I hate the Jets, and I have mixed feelings about Favre, but I generally like the guy, so you'd think that I'd be unhappy that he's in New York.

Not really.

Hear me out.  While I do hate the Jets with the very essence of my being, I need them.  It's like how the Joker needs Batman.  Without the Jets, I wouldn't love football like I do.

So, with hating them -- what's more fun -- more entertaining -- Favre, or some chump of the month?

And from a purely football standpoint, Favre doesn't scare me at all, and I imagine he'll get roughed up.  And I'll enjoy that circus along the way.

This is going to be a disaster for Favre and the New York Jets.

As much as I appreciate the hatred toward our rival weighing in on this prediction, I can't see this scenario being likely.

Did Miami move to a different division and I missed it?

Ahhh, spoken like a true fan. Nothing defines a fan base better than a shared hatred.

Based on the comments in this thread, I think the vast majority of you guys are on drugs. The Jets just took the weakest area of their team (QB), and gave it an extreme upgrade. Brett Favre is going to add a couple of wins to their total this season that they simply would not have gotten with Pennington or Clemens under center. Is Brett going to take the Jets to the SB? Of course not...but the two Jets games on our schedule just got that much more difficult.

I think Favre will the the reason why the Jets finish last place in the AFC East

Miami has one more year in the basement jail before their sentence for franchise mismanagement has been served. 4 wins, maybe 5 this year for the Phins, and the Jets will finish at .500 or better.

the way i see it is that with ALL the change with the jets roster, it is going to take some time to pull it all together (if it ever happens). this isn't an offensive system that favre can come into and have it running on all cylinders right off the bat.

look at favre circa 2005-2006, he SUCKED!!! so now he is going to a new system, new players, new coaches, and he is just going to pick up right where he left off at the end of last year? on top of it all, they can't afford to start slow because they certainly are not going to win the division.

i think that if this was a 2 year thing maybe... meaning that towards the middle of this year, into the end, things start to gel together for them. then you build on it next year into maybe being a serious contender. but this whole offseason is reminiscent of shula in his last desperate gas splurging on any available former 1st round draft choice to give it one more shot at the big game. we all know how that ended up...

I think the Favre move to NY was great for the Fins for one reason- Favre is a rental guy, not a long term solution.

So although they addressed their weakness (Like Sunstroke pointed out), it is a temporary (1 season, 2 seasons max), and has therefore set them back in the long run.

I like Brett Favre and seeing him play twice a year is cool for me.  Though I obviously won't be rooting for him I can't help but be entertained by the guy.  He is an upgrade against us but in reality that won't matter. Just like Stroke and Philly pointed out, they will be without leadership again once we do become a genuine threat .

I lost respect for Favre . He chose to quit, the packers front office tried to talk him out of it. Then when they moved on he turned their practice camp into a circus. He showed no class for the packer organization. They even offered him 20 million to stay retired.
