America's team

Yeah, they looked pretty mediocre last year holding up the Vince Lombardi trophy.  Roll Eyes
Football is a sport unlike most others where its one and done come playoff time.  The best team doesn't always win at the end of the year, the hottest one does. Different story in the NBA & MLB where a 7 game series determines who the best of the two teams really is.

Just because they won it all does not make more then the mediocre team they were during the season. They got hot at the right time.

Denver's defense IS mediocre, and it's on the south side of Mediocreville...but their offense is so insanely good that they'll still win 11-12.

imo, the AFC West will put two teams in the playoffs this season.

Denver's defensive front sucks ass, and their linebackers also suck with the exception of DJ Williams.

Anyways, back on topic. I really think that San Diego will crush Miami this week. Miami isn't going to sneak up on them with their gimick plays like they did to NE last week.  This Darren Sproles kid is elusive regardless of if LT is healthy or not and Rivers looks good so far. Also, I would expect Chambers to be looking to stick it to Miami so he'll probably show up this week.

This is the same guy who predicted Boston would finish third in their devision behind Toronto this year. Denver I hope your track record continues with your pick.

One of this universe's true constants is D_B's prediction inaccuracy. Wink

I want the Chargers to win today. But, The Raiders are beating them.

EDIT...Chargers won. Should be very interesting next week.

I think that in order to beat SD, the Fins have to run a ball control offense with a short passing game that takes advantage of their poor secondary play this year and keeps the ball out of LTs hands.  Feeds into Pennington's strength.  On D they have to take away the running game and get pressure on Rivers.  tall order.

Do we have a passing game other than a short passing game? Let me check the film again, because I'm not sure I've seen it. Wink

Lots of buzz words there, but it's hard to take advantage of someone's weak secondary with a short passing game and running the ball.

That said, I don't think the Chargers' secondary is actually that weak. They've done reasonably well against #1 and #2 receivers this season. The main problem has been covering tight ends.

The Panthers' Dante Rosario torched them in week 1. The Broncos did well with Scheffler in week 2. Chris Baker and Dustin Keller didn't do so well for the Jets in the week 3 MNF game, but then they were playing from behind and Favre was trying to go downfield on basically every play. Last week, Zach Miller led the Raiders in receiving yards and scored the only touchdown.

So the question is, how good is Fasano?

I like buzz words.   Grin

I'm just keying on standings and ratings - i.e. the Charges' stats show that they are poor in the league against the pass.  I haven't watched any of their games this year, so don't have any good first hand observastions.

Obviously if I was good at breaking down game tape I wouldn't be sitting here at cpu, I'd be breaking down game tape . . . .    Grin

You are Andy Cohen. It's the only rational explanation for your ridiculous posts at times.

Last year they started 1-3, and they turned out fine. Something wrong with the Chargers? They are scoring damn near 40 every game. The Dolphins couldn't light up the Jets like the Chargers did.

Their "window" has been slammed shut? WHAT? They play in the worst-defensive division in the history of the national football league, including the mediocre broncos, the horrible raiders, and the even more horrible cheifs.

They can very well make the super bowl this year.

First of all, I don't agree with Andy Cohen. That was a joke between me and Stroke'.

If you would have scouted the Oakland-San Diego game (I live out in the AFC West time zone so I get their games all the time) I could have told you that the San Diego Chargers ARE NOT the same team. From what I saw last week and how the Raiders were taking it to them, I KNEW that Miami was going to beat them.

And as far as that Window you see closing? If they lose three more games and win out, they are looking at a Wild Card birth. I don't see San Diego getting hot this year because the Norv Turner Coaching syndrome is settling in.

Next time, scout the game instead of looking at the final stats. It's a different story.

They are not 2-3 for nothing.
