I must have missed the Florida Marlins thread. are there still any Marlins fans out there? I don't know what to think of this team. They can beat anybody anywhere but at the same time, they have a tendency to play soft against bottom league teams.

I still think that firing Joe Girardi was a mistake. Loria is stating that he wants the Marlins to be in the playoffs. I think he has the wrong manager. Freddi is cool but he's laid back and this Marlins team (still young) does not need a laid back manager at this point.

If the Marlins stumble out of the gate, Freddi is gone. This year will be interesting to watch.

Thoughts?

Great young rotation, terrifyingly shaky bullpen. Good young bats, but the inconsistency of youth will show in their run production all season, imo.

I thought Ricky Nolasco looked great last night...

Girardi was a gem at Manager but he didn't play nice with the front office.  That was the big mistake this franchise has made, IMO.  But, I think the team could go places, if they got relief pitching in place.  Too many time the past few seasons, late leads were blown by a incapable closer.  I think i remembered hearing that the Marlins blew 9 games in the 9th inning last season - considering they were3-4 games out of the wild card towards the end, that shows you how good they can be.

I've watched a little bit of both games this season, which is kinda odd for me.  I forgot how slow baseball is.  I put it on while I'm working or something to pass time.

Fredi Gonzalez has been put on notice. Jeffery Loria said he expects the marlins to be in the playoffs. If loria wants that declaration to come to fruition he better go get some middle relief. Renyal Pinto will quickly become the Kevin Gregg of the 2010 marlins.
