I agree with Tony.

But I think Fireman Ed is getting weak in his old age.  its funny how he makes like half a J, 2/3 of an E, a whole T, and doesn't even try on the S.  Is he supposed to be acting out the letters or not?  He used to, now he's just lazy.

a google search didn't yeild a photo....but this NYTs article references him admitting to it.  So I am going to assume this is not just an urban myth.

Yeah thanks for finding that article. It's true, Fireman Ed was once on HOWARD STERN like 10 years ago or so and Howard brought it up and was goofing on him over it. Ed wasn't laughing and was trying to brush it off as no big deal. Howard was like how can you call yourself a huge Jets fan when you used to root for their rival.

I don't have the article on hand, but Ed said he chose 42 for Paul Warfield's sake.  You can search for it if you want to, but I remember reading about it 10 years or so ago.
