Dave, just wanted to kno if you have ever used or thought about adding a chat/shout box to the board? I have been on 2 other forms that use these and they are pretty cool.. think that it would be a good addition to the site especially during the NFL season.. just curious.. if you wanted to take a look at one let me know and I will throw the link up here.

Yeah, provide a link.  We've talked about adding a chat before.

This is a Fitness Discussion Board that I am a member of, you need to have a log in to see the chat so just make up a name so you can see the chat box..

Its ran by dion dev shoutbox v2.1 I believe (thats what it says when loading)

The set up that the site uses seems like it would be a good fit for TDMMC.. I dont know anything about programming. Im sure that there are a ton of chat box options that you can pick from..

I was just thinking that during football games instead of using a thread to chat about the games a chat feature on the site would be cool.

Nah.  With the chat feature, it's something we talked about a while ago, but ultimately decided not to.

Fausto is responsible for adding new message board features, so some of it is to his discretion.  I'm concerned, though, that we'd remove message board material, for the chat.  The game-day posts are nice.  I think the chat would kill that.  I would like it if it could be turned on and off.

Count me as opposed to voting posts up or down. It works great for a large message board with tons of different posters where some sort of moderation is needed to sort through the crap. Here, the vast majority of posts are by, say, less than 20 posters and we all know what each one brings to the table. That kind of personal knowledge about posters is a large part of what voting is supposed to imitate. The rest basically just being "agree / disagree", which is better formulated as a response in any case.
