Why do we think Lamar Miller is any kind of lock to finish training camp as the starter?

Being penciled in during March or April meanings just about zero to someone with the lack of experience Lamar possesses.  His NFL advantage over Gillislee is 51 carries wide, which is almost nothing.  I wonder if he learned how to pass block.

I think this RB competition is as open as it could possibly be.  May the best man win.  I would bet heavily the coaching staff feels the same.

I agree on all but one point (Miller spent an entire season in an NFL weight room, NFL meetings, and played in real games, its more than just a 51 carry advantage plus he has the best speed out of all of these backs). I still think Miami makes a move for a veteran RB at some point and brings someone in.

I think Daniel Thomas has a good chance to start and win the job. Be in a time-share with Miller. No matter who wins between those two it will be a time-share at the end of the day.  And I see a vet being brought in to be the #3 back.  I see Gillslee on the practice squad to open the year.

I would love to see a worthwhile veteran come in.  The more leadership in the backfield the better.  It's an area lean on experience ATM.

This discussion is proof that we don't have a hell of a lot of football stuff to talk about in mid May.    Grin

We might want to Ask Jack Del Rio what he thinks about  5th round draft picks.... Cheesy

I don't know,I know nothing about the kid.If he was one of those "1st,2nd rd talent but "  is why he's falling to the 3rd 4th,5th,6th rd guy's  Mike Mayock talks about.I don't think he is.....I think anything is possible,if he contributes this year great...

Imagine if Drew Bledsoe didn't get hurt.  Where would Tom Brady be?

^^ The better stat you should discuss is that Gillislee was the 14th RB taken in the draft.  Watch his highlight reel, and you'll see he runs hard but benefited greatly from great line blocking.

If the Dolphins put a o-line of schlubs out there, I'm not sure he will be as dynamic or game-changing as you guys expect.

Here is his highlight reel.  I can see the line blocks well, but I can also see he's got the vision for finding the open lane and the capability of darting straight for it.  Then if that lane suddenly closes, he'll cut and make guys miss.
