A truly great coach and one of the most intelligent and entertaining basketball analysts ever is dead at the age of 89. Thankfully, he died in his sleep.

Dr. Jack was the Miami Heat color man when I first moved to South Florida. His funky plaid pants and fiery calls - "ALONZO WITH THE SLAM!" - made watching the Heat extremely enjoyable..

It is nearly impossible for someone to spend their life in the media spotlight, but still be respected and appreciated by literally everyone. Dr. Jack was on the short list of people who achieved that, and he did it by being respectful to everyone and being true to himself and his principles in everything he did.

Rest in peace, Dr. Jack...

I was sad to read this news this morning. I always enjoyed his analysis while he was working for ESPN.

RIP Dr. Jack!!!!!

Yeah, I definitely associate him with the HEAT when I got into watching basketball.
