Shame of the game - Raiders

How do you draw that from anything Spider said? He and I don't agree a lot but I was going to come with something similar.

Spider pointed out that the Patriots went through a similar offseason as Miami last year and they went to the Superbowl despite losing week 1 to the same Raiders team that Miami lost to in week 1. I was being sarcastic and ironic. Spider is usually terrific at cherry picking data points to try to counter arguments, but he cherry picked the wrong example this time.

I didn't miss anything. You brought up the Patriots last year, not me.

Why you brought them up is beyond me.

Wrong.  I made no such reference to any game involving the Patriots.  At the risk of repeating myself:

I am not talking about what the Raiders did to the Patriots in week one of last year.
I am talking about what the Raiders did to the Dolphins YESTERDAY with "a rookie head coach, new coaching staff, new starting QB, and their own roster churn."

The 2025 Raiders did not have "a rookie head coach."
The 2025 Patriots did not have "a rookie head coach" or "a new starting QB."
So I obviously was not referring to either one of those teams at any point.

The 2026 Raiders fit the definition of "last year's worst team in the league;" neither the 2025 Patriots nor the 2026 Dolphins can possibly fit this criteria (no matter what you interpret "last year" to mean). The 2026 Raiders also fit the definition of a team with "a rookie head coach, new coaching staff, new starting QB, and their own roster churn."

Maybe you should try re-reading this entire thread to straighten out your reading comprehension.

I went into this season with low expectations, so it's not surprising there's a fair bit of shame to spread around.

Our depth is near non-existent, which is going to show up especially on special teams. Outside of Wright's return, it was a fairly dirty day for this group, but they weren't the worst offenders.

I thought the left side of our OL was pretty decent in pass protection, and what rushing we had was most effective on that side. The right side however is bad. Really bad.

The worst bunch though has to be the defensive line. The could not get any pressure on Cousins, and were totally ineffective against the run, so our linebackers and secondary were up against it from the start. Perhaps surprisingly, those two units got better as the game went on, even while they continued to get zero help from the beef at the front.

If I'm going to pick one guy out of that, it's gotta be Chop Robinson. Zero sacks, zero tackles, can't set the edge. He looks every bit of being a first round bust again.

Alright, I owe you an apology. I apparently did completely misread your initial post. For some reason I had it in my mind you were referring to the 2025 Patriots, not the 2026 Raiders. Looking back now I don't know where I got that from. Just ignore everything I said after my initial post.

On the Joe Rose Show, they mentioned "Riley Patterson technically had more tackles than Chop Robinson on Sunday". Ouch.

Chop should have that played back to him all this week, because if that doesn't motivate his ass, nothing will.
