Konami Bracket

GoldenEye: 007 (N64) vs. Grand Theft Auto - Vice City (PC, Multi)

On paper, Grand Theft Auto, killing Ice Hockey by a score of 16-4 in the round of 64, would be the favorite here.  However, GoldenEye was an extremely popular game, as it beat out Tie-Fighter in a defensive battle, 9-5.  Either game could walk away the winner here.

This has probably been my hardest choice so far.  I loved both of these games.  I voted for Goldeneye because of it's replayability.  As awesome as Vice City was, once it was over, it was pretty much over.  I wasn't compelled to do collection missions, and look for boxes.  With Goldeneye, the unlockables added a lot to the game, as you could make additional challenges for yourself.  The big thing about Goldeneye, though, was that it had multiplayer....which Vice City did not (short of computer mods).

DAve, I respectfully disagree.  Vice City has tons of built-in fun without missions.  I often times go around just seeing hoew many people I can rob and how much stuff I can destroy before the cops get pissed.  Its fun to get your wanted level up to 6 stars and see how long you can survive when they bring the tank out to kill your ass.

Yeah, as far as open-endedness goes, you're right.  You can go on rampages, or just kill people.  Just speaking for myself, though, I found that once I beat the missions, I wasn't drawn back to the game any longer, while with Goldeneye, there were still incentives to continue.

OK, I can understand that.  I've never played Goldeneye, though myself, just watched others (including you) play it.  It seems fun...

It's really hard to argue against Vice City....I can't, really, as I think the game is almost perfect.  I think that it should've had an online component to it, though.  ...some kind of multiplayer events....races and stuff, at least...it would've really set it apart from GTA3.

As Dave said it IS almost the perfect game, brilliant in so may ways. Whilst i really did enjoy Goldeneye, it was always gonna be Vice City for me.

Its gonna take some beating overall in this Tournament!

As you alluded to Dave, you can play Vice City online in multiplayer mode.  You just need to download a mod...

Yeah, but it's not even Vice City.  There are no objectives.  It's buggy.  The concept is cool, but unless put into the games and done properly, you can't count it with this contest.

I kinda agree w/ Dave on the replay of VC. I could only go around on rampages for so long before it would become boring. And the side missions (dirt bike racing, RC heli/cars) weren't all that much fun, unlike shooting some Cubans. Shocked
