While I agree Ginn is too much a liability to be a number 1 receiver.  Hartline, Camarillo, and Bess aren't anything to brag about either.

Should we trade for Owens and hope he can produce like a number 1?

Or should we draft somebody?  And if so, who?

LOL, that is pretty stupid.  yes trade for owens 1 week after the trade deadline.  stop looking at ginn as a number 1.

^^^^^

It's past the deadline?  Oh my bad

I'm not saying Ginn is good.  He's not.  However, neither are Camarillo, Bess, or Hartline.  So the question is what should we do?

You're just being ridiculous, IMO.  All these guys are possession receivers, being asked to play wideout.  Hartline, Camarillo, and Bess are fine.  Ginn would be fine too if he would learn his role.

STOP thinking Ginn is a #1 WR - he's not.  He's a speed guy with cinderblocks for hands.  Great for a kick returner.

I don't think Ginn is number 1 receiver.  I just told you that earlier in the thread.  However, he doesn't really have the hands to be a possesion receiver either

  Great for a kick returner.

I'm not even sure he is good for that role. He just doesn't have the toughness to be effective with anything at the NFL level.

What to do with Ginn? I doubt he has much trade value, maybe a 6th or a 7th, or perhaps for some other team's malcontent/underachiever. Does anyone know what effect cutting Ginn after this season would have on the salary cap? Or is there a salary cap next year?

2010 is an uncapped season, but I'm not sure how that plays into current contracts.  If I had to venture a guess it would be for next year's rooks and free agents.  I don't know how they signed people this year knowing the NFL and NFLPA haven't worked out the CBA.

As far as our other receivers I feel they make the best of given opportunities.  Camarillo and Hartline especially are pure effort.  I like Bess's skill sets, but he's not putting out like he did his rookie season.  Fasano is pretty much Ted Ginn, Jr. Jr. this year.  Ginn is becoming a liability.  We all know he's an underachiever, but just giving the other team six is out of line.

Bess gave the other team six too, with a fumble.

We don't need receivers.  Our offense is fine

Right, but what I mean is Ginn pretty much hands the ball to the Saints on a play he should have made and then doesn't make the tackle--an immediate six.

He did make the tackle.  They just missed the call

Stay with me here.  Ginn is fast, right?  He hesitated and therefore didn't make the tackle.  There would have been no need for a missed call if he would've manned up.  90-year old Darren Sharper is not faster than Ginn.
