This list really sucks.

Will someone tell me where Zach Thomas is? He has more tackles than anyone in the HOF and they put Brian Hurlacker on the list?

What about "The Wizard" Ozzie Newsome? And what about Ray Guy who literally changed the punting game. The only one that I really agreed on was Tom Brady because he was a sixth rounder that came out of nowhere.

Heres the link...

What about Chuck Bednarik who was a number one draft choice for the Eagles in 49? I still say that he was the best middle linebacker ever and he played not one but three positions and was the last guy to play offense and defense regularly in the same game.

They really should have done this list by decades or eras.

It was based on fan voting....aka a name recoginition poll.

Note of the top 74 there was not a single offensive line, defense tackle or nose tackle.  Number 75 was a guard whose name is known not only b/c of his play on the field but because of his being the union president.

I disagree wholeheartedly with almost this entire list.  It doesn't really reflect the prompt.  Peyton Manning is definitely not one of the 75 best draft picks.

He is one of the greatest (and arguably the best) players, however it was the only pick to make at #1 that year and it was as safe a pick as you can make for a QB.

These choices should be reserved for late round steals, interesting trades to move up and grab a guy you really want, or going against the grain of what's expected in a way that works out well for you.  If Mario Williams ends up being a super-duper hall of fame stud, he would be in the discussion, because Reggie Bush was a "sure thing" at #1, but the Texans went another direction.

Zach Thomas is a very good choice for this list, as mentioned.

Anything with fan voting just shows the ignorance of large groups of people. Brett Favre is ranked in the top ten of all-time drafte picks regardless of the fact that he never completed a pass for the team that drafted him.

Actually he was a pretty good pick for the Falcons.  They used a second round pick (#33 overall) to draft him.  The next year they traded him for a first round pick (#19 overall).

Not as good of a deal as what the Patriots got out of Cassel...but not too shabby either.

You know I just had to check out the rest of the story didn't you? If this was all there was to it, I would have agreed with you. It turns out they used that pick to draft Tony Smith out of Southern Miss. Now I admit this was only a quick search but from what I see Tony played a total of three seasons and compiled a total of 329 yards and 2 TDs. Now can you still tell me that drafting Brett Favre worked out for the Atlanta Falcons?

Elway was drafted by the Colts, not the Broncos.  He refused to play for the Colts, who in turn traded him to Denver.

I won't take draft analysis that far.  Only what the player did for you and what you got in trade.  Not what you did with the any draft picks you received.

If you draft a player and then trade him for a significant higher pick, the original draft choice was a good deal, even if the subsequent draft pick sucked.  The opposite is true as well.  If the player picked up in the 5th round with Ginn's pick goes on to have a HOF career all with the Dolphins the original drafting of Ginn is no less of a blunder.  This draft would be a great one, but doesn't change the 2007 one.

I disagree completely. You cannot talk about what value they received without discussing what the value actually was (a guy who was barely on the team).
