Good for Chad. I hope he likes the broadcasting I think he will be really good at it. He is a smart guy who could add a lot of insight to the average fan. Now, this notion he has of taking a year off to then see if he wants to come back is silly. 4 shoulder surgery's and now major knee surgery.....its over!

Great move for Chad!!!  Truly looking forward to seeing him in this role.  Bummer about how the injuries got the best of him as a player, but thats how it goes sometimes.

I agree with this move as well.  It's a good move for Chad and it clears up the QB picture a little bit for the Dolphins

the picture wasn't clouded. Penny was a FA and not under contract to Miami plus he has a torn knee and was out for this upcoming season anyway

I hate to be the "I told you so" guy, but if you recall I made the broadcasting prediction while everyone kept saying they predicted him to move into coaching. He did major in communications.

According to ESPN, Chad is "taking a year off" presumably to recover from his busted knee.  I think, in his mind, he's keeping possibility open for a 2012 return...?

Players tend to have that mentality a lot. I doubt we see Chad back in uniform though.

Chad has been talking with Kurt Warner alot. And Kurt had that break in the middle of his career where he was a back-up and didn't play much. I think Chad is trying to follow that blueprint. Take off time, come back for a final run. MAJOR DIFFERENCE is Warner had an arm and could still throw it, Chad hasn't had an arm in over 10 years and can't throw it.

Chad's career is over

This is not new.  This story was going on about Pennington before the last injury sidelined him.
