Rather than crap on each other's beliefs, lets look inward.

What would you like to see your own political party do that they don't or don't do enough?

I would like to see for the Democratic Party:
1) Better consumer protections, specifically around marketing/scams/harassment.  Cell phones have become annoying spam/scam tools.  That can and should be stopped and prosecuted with the help of the government.

2) Legalize/Decriminalize drugs.  Start with weed, but move towards a more health-based/personal responsibility model with all drugs, rather than a criminalization strategy.

3) Stop corporatization of the party.  Money out of politics.  Don't let people that hold public office and set policy invest in anything other than blind-trusts.  There is too much room for intentional or even unintentional profiting off of inside information.  And it erodes public trust.

4) Ranked choice voting.  This will take power away from both the GOP and DEMs but it would be good for the country.

5) Run and lose on what you are.  If you have belief in an idea, don't be afraid to run and lose.  It will hurt in the short term, but allow you to win long-term.  Put bills up that you don't have enough votes to pass, then run on the results and keep putting those ideas up for votes.

6) Stop playing to the middle on things you believe in.  The idea in my head is abortion -- where we have Hyde amendment, where we seem to fight for abortion rights, but then to keep the middle, we agree not to allow public funds.  However, this is inconsistent.  Tax money is spent for all kinds of things people don't agree with.  It normalizes that abortion is somehow wrong, when that isn't your position on the issue.  Like point 5 above, I'd rather be what we are and lose than be halfway what we are and lose down the road anyway.

7) Immediately codify political norms.  Lots of our laws aren't defined, but it's just something that we do out of respect for the process.  These should be made to become laws (like releasing tax returns) or so many other things.  This is especially true when norms are suddenly not followed, but we should codify these "gentleman's agreements" regardless.
