I'm giving mine to the D too.  You get 4 turnovers.  You get 5 sacks.  And you STILL give up 32 points?!?! (subtract the 14 for the two picks returned for touchdowns.  O gave up 7, refs gave up the other 7.  That should have been a fumble out of the end zone for a touchback.)

Henne's first pick 6 was because Ginn bobbled the ball - NOT his fault.  His second pick was a miscmmunication, but I think the WR made the right read and Henne made the wrong one, so that one I'll lay on his lap.

right, it was the defenses fault they gave up the 3 points when the saints returned the kickoff to the miami 5 or whatever it was. No way you can give the SOTG to the defense.

the coaches fucking blow too.  how can you not run the ball more.  I know ronnie was pretty terrible, but ricky was having a good day.  in a game where they were up by multiple scores for most of the game, how the fuck can a running team attempt more passes than rushes.

OK, so they gave up 29 points instead of 32.  They gave up 29 points!!!  Even with 4 turnvers, the Defense gave up 29 points!  What the hell is that!?  The D played lights out for a half.  Then, the bottom fell out.  With like  25 seconds left in the second quarter, NO has like 3rd and 13 at the Miami 40 (estimates, people).  Miami sends 7 or 8.  Boom, completion to the 1.  Even before the play, I was shouting at the TV "don't big-blitz!  Time's on your side!".  Stupid play call, bad execution.  Gave the Saints hope and got the crowd shit-scared.  Yeah, the defense gets the shame.  D-Coordinator included.

omg 29 points to the a high powered offense like the saints.  They also had 4 turnovers. 1 of which was deep in new orleans territory.

Dude, Tepop.  They took away 4 possessions from the Saints and still allowed 29 points.  You really hunky-dory with that?  Really?  In the second half, they looked lost.  Maybe it's because Will Allen wasn't out there blanketing people, but Brees carved up that secondary, and by the end of the game, the pressure was not getting to Brees.  The defense failed to hold the Saints, plain and simple.  The offense was inept in the second half, too, but they had built a lead.  The defense gave it up.

LOL, the offense built a lead?  How, by letting the defense pick off a pass and return it to new orleans 4 yard line?  Yea, the offense really did well there putting it in. Or maybe it was their 19 yard touchdown drive after the defense picked off brees again.

Offensive drives in the second half.
3/-1
3/2
3/9
4/0 fg.  well done offense.  move those chains from the new orleans 15 yard line.
3/71 td.  holy shit an actual drive
3/0
3/0
7/21 td for the wrong team. oops.
8/52 garbage time

who failed. the offense and chad henne.

^^^Who cares!?  They didn't follow through!  Look, I love our defense.  I am a fan of defense.  I can enjoy a 6-3 game if it's because the defenses are playing lights out.  But because I love defense, I expect much from the defense, and allowing 3 straight 70+ yard drives, one of which only took 3 plays, is unacceptable.  They pressured Brees for a half and crapped the bed in the second half.  Again, Allen apparently got hurt in the third quarter, so mabe that has a lot to do with it.  I know how everyone here *hates* him, but he's actually a really good, physical corner (with stone hands).

I grant you, the offense got figured out after the first quarter and a half, or maybe the coaches went ultra conservative.  Who knows.  The directive to the defense was to not give up the lead.  They did.  You want to fault Henne for the Sharper pick and score?  Well,  Sharper only got it because Ginn let the ball bounce off his hands not once, but twice, while Sharper got there.  That pick was all Ginn, baby.  According to ESPN - 8 targets, 2 catches.  Implied stat - several (not all) drops.  Same goes for other receivers.

But whatever.  You think what you think, I think what I think.  Moving on.

NO averages 38 points per game (well, before THIS game they did, it'll be more now).  The defense held them to a below-average scoring output.  Not only that, it's kind of hard to fault the defense for allowing 29 points when that would have been enough to win (our offense scored 34).

The defense gave 4 extra possessions to the offense.  They are not at fault.

The Saints are the #1 offensive team in the league.  If you seriously thought that our defense was going to hold them in the teens, you were misguided.

We're supposed to be the #1 rushing attack in the league and we did NOTHING in the second half WITH A HUGE LEAD.  Isn't that when good rushing attacks are supposed to shine?

BTW.  Chad Henne now has as many TD passes to the defense as he does to the offense.

Why do I not see Gibril Wilson's name in this thread?  This guy is a moron.  Way to play slap-happy with Jeremy Shockey while he runs for 20 more yards, asshole.

The refs were terrible today.

Ginn can't catch for shit.  I, too, am done defending the guy, but I still think cutting him is a mistake.

But the shame goes to Gibril Wilson.  Supposed to be our veteran in an otherwise inexperienced secondary.  For not being able to play pass coverage EVER, you suck.

Henne didn't really have any pick 6s that mattered.

One was a bobbled pass that hit his own receiver and the other was a 4th and long where nobody picked up a blitz and he had to get rid of the ball, so he just threw it up.  The game was over from a sack, anyway.

My point is that Henne didn't make any bad decisions.  We put up a ton of offensive points, despite several dropped passes.  I think that Henne played much, much better than his statline indicated.

The receiver didn't pick up the blitz and just kept going. It happened twice yesterday. I really don't see either of the two on Henne though he did have a couple of others that could have fallen on him if the caught it.

My biggest concern is with henne. I don't think we are allowing him to play and will continue toi impede his growth. They stopped the wildcat and then Henne wasn't able to do much. It aggrevated me in the first half that they kept pulling him for Pat White or for the wildcat when he was moving the ball. Let the boy play freaking QB.

I'm not sure some of watch the same games. It is really amazing what some people see sometimes but I am going to stay away from arguing anyone's points. My shame goes to Ginn.

Spider-Dan, this statement in itself seems contradictory.  For the record, I'm not happy with the offensive output.  It's not like I'm saying  "you know, if not for that Defense, we would've won!".  What I am saying is that the defense allowed 3 straight 70+ yard drives in the fourth quarter, none of which took more than 8 plays.  In other words, the Saints were getting almost 10 yards a play by the fourth quarter.  Our offense is what it is; a candle compared to the Saints' high-beam lights.  To have a chance, the D would have to keep the Saints at bay for an entire game.  Because my confidence was in the D, and not in the O, and the D failed just as spectacularly as the O did in the second half, they get my vote.  Agree, disagree, whatever.  Plenty of blame to go around.
