I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

obviously the special teams coach deserves a lot of the blame, but there has been a lot of shakeup at the bottom of this roster. given that most of those players need to contribute on special teams, doesn't seem like there has been a good player evaluation for those specific roles.

The special teams is obviously the SOTG and Henne is behind them, but the special teams gave up WAY too many points for our offense to come back from.

Even every media outlet is saying special teams sucks.  Henne had a bad game, yes, but special teams COST the Dolphins the game.

Any other vote it blind hatred.

^^^

Henne is SOTG, not special teams

Your opinion is welcome at all times.

YOUR opinion does not supervent any other opinion on the board.

Please do not issue corrections to someone based on a subjective opinion.  YOUR SOTG was Henne.  You don't speak for the board.

Thanks.

John BONERmego.  If he can't teach his guys to hold their blocks, he needs to be replaced with someone who can.

Dear Special Teams, you are not supposed to be "special" as in Special Olympics.  That is all.

It has to be John Bonamego.  1 blocked punt in the red zone (resulted in TD), 1 blocked kick for a direct TD, and 1 kickoff returned for a TD.

It was an abnormally abysmal performance, and this was on the heels of several other poor weeks.

Henne had a bad game.

Special teams had such a  horrible game it could be called epic.

Anyone doubt that if ESPN or NFLN was to do a "countdown of the the ten worst special teams poor performances of all times" that the game would make the list.

Henne's performance might not make the list of 25 worst games by a DOLPHINS QB.

I wonder if our noticeable drop in special teams play (from a unit that was not particularly good to begin with) is because we had several quality players like Wake and J.Allen who were on ST but are now starters.

Even Sparano thinks Bonamego gets the shame of the game, obviously.

Someone I was driving with yesterday made an interesting observation: Almost everyone on our kickoff coverage is a DB or Safety.  We only have 1 or 2 linebackers running down, causing our guys to get held up in blocks -- they're fast, but what's the use if they can't shed a block and made a tackle?

Was just watching NFL Playbook on the NFL network.  Mike Mayock broke down the 3 plays that cost the Dolphins the game.

On the kickoff:  The players lost any sort of coverage lane, the entire left side of the kickoff team converged toward the middle of the field allowing Tate to run untouched to that side for an easy score.

On the blocked punt:  Left side of the punt team got fooled by a routine line stunt allowing the outside man to loop inside untouched.

On the blocked FG:  Players are taught to block down to stop inside rushers first, then move on to outside rushers.  The player on the left side chose to block the outside guy first.

Mayock said all of these mistakes are Special Teams 101, and I agree.  This is crap I was taught in Pee Wee football.  Perhaps if the Special Teams coach paid more attention to minor details like these, his unit would not have cost the Fins the game and the coach his job.

I would like to watch the replay again tonight to see if I can see the numbers of all those folks on the LEFT side of the responsible units.  I did notice that I saw Bobby Carpenter a lot in those replays.  I don't know if that's just a coincidence or if Bobby Carpenter is just that crappy to suck in all areas of the game.
