Alfonso Soriano, 2B WAS
News: Alfonso Soriano's second day as Washington's new left fielder didn't go quite as smoothly as his debut. He made three routine grabs Thursday during a 1-0 victory over the Orioles, but two catchable balls fell in front of him. An experienced outfielder probably would have charged both and turned them into outs. In the seventh inning, Soriano jogged after a looper by Baltimore's Nick Markakis, who alertly raced to second for a double when Soriano hesitated.
Analysis: Luckily for Fantasy owners, fielding stats don't count. However, consider this situation far from settled. If the Nats feel Soriano is too much of a risk in left field, they still may end up trading him. If he plays the outfield exclusively this season, his numbers are slightly above average. If he somehow gets back to second base, either in Washington or elsewhere, he becomes much more valuable.
I wonder if he's sucking on purpose to get traded cause he's a whiny bitch.
No, he has always been lazy in the field with lapses of judgement. Willie Randolph used to scream at him when he played second for us. He is a terrible fielder and I expect a record number of errors for him this year if he plays in all the games.
