We'll be back to where we were before last week: one game off the pace. If Sparano and Co. get us to the playoffs, I'll be very satisfied with the job they've done.

Almost.  We have a division loss instead of a win and the Pats have a division win instead of a loss, which could really screw the dolphins in tiebreakers.

actually the pats are 3-2 in the divsion and we are 2-2. in the conference pats are now 5-5 and we are 5-4. if we can win out , we can have at least 2nd place.

I think if miami and NE win out for now on. Both will be 11-5, have 4-2 divison record, NE will have a 7-5 conference record while miami would have 8-4.

Almost.  We have a division loss instead of a win and the Pats have a division win instead of a loss, which could really screw the dolphins in tiebreakers.

First tie-breaker is head-head. If it's just us and the Patriots, that's a tie.
Second tie-breaker is division record. We'll need to beat the Jets in week 17 to tie that, assuming both we and the Patriots beat the Bills (the Patriots WILL beat the Bills, so that's a must-win).
Third tie-breaker is common games. Division is a tie, so this would be the AFC West games. We're 3-0 against the AFC West right now, the Patriots are 2-1, having lost to the Chargers. We both need to play the Raiders.

The way we could lose a tie-breaker with the Patriots is if we somehow both get to 10-6 (or 9-6, but that's not probably, IMHO) and we lose to the Jets while the Patriots' one loss doesn't come against Buffalo.

The scary thing is... the way things look right now, all the remaining games on our schedule are "winnable". Buffalo aren't looking nearly as hard as they were a month or two ago. San Francisco and the Chiefs are certainly winnable. That's a very hypothetical 10 wins, leaving the Jets in week 17 for a possible tripple-tie atop AFC East.

At the same time, I could easily see us lose 3 of the final 4 games.

Still, 8-8 is a couple more than my OPTIMISTIC projection before the season.

Actually I thought the question was are we back on track after losing to NE and the jets beating Tenn, instead of the opposite happening.  We are close, but still lost a division game.

i thought you were talking about the whole thing, and not just the game, Technically the loss doesn't really hurt our chances in the tiebreaker, we still have a better conference record than them.

The only thing the loss gave us was that if we tie them at the end of the season, we won't win second place from the head to head matchups.
