I'm surprised at how many people were indifferent or just didn't like it. I thought the entire movie was great, not just the ending. Come on, the corridor fight was worthy enough for the ticket price.  Smiley

P.S. Much better than Memento, and I really liked that movie too.
What was so great about the ending?

The corridor fight scene is well done, but I had a little problem with seeing all these intellectual types doing all these fight scenes.  Just because they are in a dream they suddenly all become Neo?  I was waiting for Ellen Page to don a black leather jump suit and jump on a crotch rocket at any second. The ending asks you to go back and question things that you might have taken for granted.  It also takes your emotional state at the end of the movie and asks that you re-evaluate it, because it might not be genuine.

I'll skip this one....Leonardo DiCaprio movies bore the piss out of me, I can't get into the movie,I can't suspend my disbelief when watching a movie he's in...Perhaps they're all too over hyped, bad acted or what.... Huh.....

There's no point in trying to convince anyone in trying to like or hate a movie. I think it's crazy that someone can dislike this movie while you wonder why I like it.

If they are in a dream, why wouldn't they just become Neo? It is a dream after all. Sometimes you can control your own dream and do Matrix type stuff. It's just a movie.  Cheesy

Off topic- I was having a dream the other night and I was about to break into some seriously devious stuff. I had a table set up with all kinds of items found around the average household (now that I think about it some households may be lacking in the tool department) and was going to exact some serious revenge on someone. As soon as we went to pull him out of the car I woke up before I actually performed any of those acts. I'm kind of glad I did.

I am unable to carry out devious acts in my dreams, because I'm unable to detach myself from my morality, even if I realize I'm dreaming.  ...it sucks.

Spoiler alert!!!!
You mean just because you don't actually SEE the totem topple?  That?

That makes you question everything?  I noticed that Cobb didn't need to see it.  He saw his kids and HE knew.  Why do I have to see it?  That's what I got from the ending, that sometimes you just KNOW.

Edit: Sorry about that.  Added Spoiler alert!

Wow...If I wasn't able to release those devious acts in dream-mode (which I often do), I think I'd be much more likely to pull some of that out and act on it in the really-real world.

[INCEPTION SPOILERS]

The way I took the ending was similar to how you did, actually.  I felt that by showing the totem and cutting away before there was any real conclusion told us two things: 1) we're not really sure if we're out of all levels of dreaming and 2) it doesn't really matter if we are, because Cobb has reached his resolution, regardless of whether it's real or not, from the perspective of the viewer.

I wasn't trying to convince anyone of anything.  I merely asked a question as to why you matter of factly stated that the ending was great.  Remember, I don't dislike the movie, I actually quite liked it, just not enough to put it in the top 5 on IMDB.  That I have a problem with.
