Housing Question/Worry

I was approved for subsidized housing due to my mental health disabilities in December of 2024.

As part of my rent determination, I am required to report my income and my assets to the Housing Authority.

I was looking over my rental agreements, and I realized that for 2025, two of my assets were unreported.  For this year, one of them was.

I thought I had submitted everything.  There are many ways this oversight could have happened.

I called them today and left a message.  They are not in because it is the weekend.

Adding in those two assets would have raised my rent about $10 a month for 2025.  Adding in the one asset for 2026 raises it by about one dollar.

I am meeting with them on Monday to discuss the discrepancy.

I can pay back pay if need be, but I'm worried that they will evict me because of this.

What should I do?

It is extremely common for conservatives who complain about other people getting government handouts to be on the receiving end of such assistance themselves.

D4L, while I imagine you would have little sympathy for anyone else caught defrauding the system, my only advice as to what you should do is thoroughly report everything as soon as you can, and hope that - if the Housing Authority you refer to is a federal organization - the Trump Administration is not as dedicated to punishing fraud as people like you insisted they should be.

It is a possibility, sad truth is that someone one who steals $50 worth of food stamps is more likely to spend time in jail than someone who defrauded a million dollars. 

Unlikely to see prison, but if he can't post bail he could spend a few days in jail until he pleads guilty and is sentenced to a fine, probation and community service.

I agree.  This thread needs to be locked, if not outright deleted.   In my Facebook groups, we don't post or comment about disabilities.... at all.

As long as you're acting in good faith and try to fix what's broken, you will likely be fine.  You might have to make back-pays or whatever.

The difference is that many other people are on disability because they are lazy moochers who simply don't want to work (or find a better job).
However, D4L's disability is Real, and so the assistance he receives is Reasonable and Warranted.

These are the fruits of Reagan Republicanism: the only person who always deserves assistance is me, the only person who always should be allowed to get an abortion is me, the only person whose free speech must always be protected is me.

That's what I hope, but being over the other side of the world I'm not sure how the system works over there.

Here it would be a case of being honest, then arrange some kind of repayment plan or a lesser amount of benefits until the debt is over.
