What do you think of the Yankees' and Sox's opening days? I was very impressed with Schilling; he came back stronger than I ever imagined he would. Looks like it's gonna be a good year for the top dogs in the AL east!

But, tell me what you think.

Damn straight, D_B. Mussina, I've heard, was sharp in the preseason, as was Beckett. We'll see how they do tonight though.

The Sox look good!! Schilling looked awesome!!!! He looked like the old Shilling of 04. There was a fast ball clocked at 96! I don't agree with him throwing 116-120 pitches (what ever it was)

Wakey had a tough time finding his spots tonight.  Boston's offense was okay last night, I'll take four runs in one night.  But you can't get teed off on like that in less than three innings.

The opener was good, Schilling looked really good.  I was impressed with his location and velocity.  Foulke looked terrible, it might not be long before Papelbon has to take his spot in that slot.  Papelbon tossed an over powering inning and his 97 three times on the clock.

The Yankees - wow, what can you say?  They will most likely shatter the modern day runs scored record and they made Zito look like a chump.  Last night you saw Oakland settle down a little.  Mussina looked okay - 5 hits over 7 innings isn't bad, neither is three earned runs.  Proctor couldn't hold that one down.  I think NYY will struggle in relief this season - in particular the 7th and 8th inning.  BUT they won't be in a ton of one run games either.

Halladay looked really good.  Baltimore has started off well, too.

The start of the season isn't anything to get too jacked about, no one remembers how a World Series champion starts a season - it's how you end.  But it's awfully nice to have baseball back, isn't it?

No disagreement there.

Lowell shocked the world with his HR, although it would've been a single in Fenway. Still, Schilling looking that good was cause to break out the bubbley.

Johnson looked great too.

As far as the 2nd game goes, no surprises for me. The Yankees don't score when Mussina pitches because he takes forever to do so. He didn't pitch bad, it's just that if he got a lead in the top half, he would give it back in the bottom half. That's classic Mussina, can't concentrate unless he is losing.

Wakefield getting roguhed up means nothing. He is a knuckleballer and even he is at the mercy of it.
