dave hyde's article today

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/fl-hyde-dolphins-bill-parcells-1226-20101226,0,3314317.column

yeah, let's not forget he didn't finish the bridge.  no matter how you slice or dice it, he didn't finish the job and walked away from it.  I've said it before, he's not hoisted an SB trophy since the 1st Gulf War, yet the man gets the accolades of a Vince Lombardi.  Gun for Hire.

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy, Prosperous New Year.

Oh I haven't forgotten Parcells. And he's welcomed to drag along anyone but Mike Nolan with him to Minny so he can screw them over too.

We need to face it. This team needs to tank a season in order to have that "mother lode" opportunity again. It just has to be done at the right time. And hopefully whoever is in charge the next time, the same missed opportunity won't repeat itself.

Maybe this was posted when I wasn't looking, but I gotta bring it up front.

This serious A-hole is getting a free pass and it is irking the shit out of me!!!!

Parcells has done nothing but make us a more boring loser to watch.  He promoted changing out all of our players to get bigger, but now we are too slow.  Then he gives us the most conservative coaching staff in history, spends a fortune on an O-line that can't pass protect without tightend help and has no clue how to get to the second level on run blocking.

What happened to "I've been charged with bringing in a system that will be successful for many years, thats what I have been charged with."?

The craziest part is that other teams are actually trying to consult with him after doing zilch here.  Why isn't ESPN or NFL network bringing this up and pointing out that he didn't accomplish anything and took a bunch of money while he was at it?

because they have serious MAN-LOVE for him as well as brett favre.  they know these names are big talking points with fans and media alike.  the drones will tune in to see what folks like this are up to.

seriously, the man has done NOTHING since the shank-right FG of poor scott norwood.  if norwood puts that thru, the Tuna does not exist to the extent that he is portrayed in the annals of the NFL that he does now.

There's also the possibility that a lot of the reports that so and so is talking to Parcells is pure media speculation.  Sparano said earlier that Parcells is still working for the Dolphins regardless of his tenous position with them.  Technically speaking other teams can't talk too specifically to Parcells without risking a tampering charge from Miami unless the Dolphins have given them permission.  As far as I know Miami has not given anyone permission to talk to Parcells about a position within their orginization.  I'm not saying that there's not ways around the rules, I'm just saying that just because someone reports it, that doesn't make it true.

Changing one event in history and assuming that "everything else" plays out the exact same way seems a little flawed to me. Who knows...Maybe Norwood hits that FG, it inspires Parcells, and he ends up winning a half dozen Super Bowls with a completely different team. You just don't know...and neither does anyone else (short of any manipulative time travelers who might be lurking)

It all depends on whether you want to create a positive hypothetical situation with no support or a negative hypothetical situation with no support.

With that said, I'd still like to kick Parcells right in the bean pot for not sticking around long enough to get the job done right.

I do believe the Fins are much improved over 4 years ago, and I think Parcells had something to do with it.  Did he finish the job?? NO  He came in made a big splash, and loads of money, stroked his ego, and moved on.   At his age I can't blame the guy, and I never thought he would stick around for very long.  Enough of the blame game, I just want to see this team move forward.
