Taylor upset he hasn’t heard from Parcells, Ireland

By Tim Graham | Sunday, May 18, 2008, 09:41 PM

In today’s Associated Press story that mostly outlines Jason Taylor’s success on Dancing With the Stars and Tuesday night’s announcement of the champion, the Dolphins defensive end makes a frigid comment about the team’s front office.

The interview, conducted by phone from Los Angeles with AP Miami bureau reporter Steven Wine, is undated but appears to be recent.

Wine notes the support Taylor has received from the likes of Joey Porter, Channing Crowder, Ronnie Brown and brother-in-law Zach Thomas.

He has also regularly received words of encouragement from the Dolphins’ new coach, Tony Sparano. But Taylor’s unhappy about the silent treatment from new football czar Bill Parcells and new general manager Jeff Ireland, who are displeased that (Dancing With the Stars) kept Taylor from offseason workouts with his teammates.

“I’ve talked to Parcells and Jeff Ireland probably less than a minute each,”Taylor said. “If you’re working in an organization, you want to have respect and communication throughout. I think that’s important for everybody. So we’ll see.”
Another interesting note in the story is that Taylor will be on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to New York to appear on Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly on Wednesday morning.

That means Taylor probably won’t be attending the next organized team activity, also scheduled for Wednesday.

For 11 years, Jason Taylor has given his all to the Dolphins organization only to have a big blowhard like Parcells catch an attitude. This is why I wanted Floyd Reese as the GM because he knows how to deal with people. Reese is excellent when it comes to player aquisitions and building a team.

But no, that jerk Wayne H. pulled a fast one on us. Always thinking about ticket sales, he goes for the marquee name and gets Parcells, who has basically burned bridges everywhere he has went under the shadow of being a genius of rebuilding teams and not giving his GM's credit.

And what's up with the midget Jeff Ireland? Does someone have to remind him that he is there to make coffee and he should know his place? For God sakes, HE"S AN EX-KICKER? He gets too much credit for Dallas success when it was really Stephen Jones, Jerry's son, calling the shots behind the scenes which Parcells did not like.

If I was Jason, I would retire and go make movies. To hell with the NFL.

People don't realize that to do dances like that, you almost have to train harder than you do in football. It actually helps his pass rushing skills and his quickness.

Julius Erving would take ballet lessons in the off-season which helped him during the regular season. Now I see why Dr. J did amazing things on the court.

You would think after all Taylor has been through with this team that he would get the respect that he deserves. This is why I'm losing interest in the Dolphins. How can you go from an organization represented by one of the classiest guys that ever coached (Shula) to some hired faceless guns that care nothing but about their own ego? (Parcells).

I can't wait to see how Parcells reacts to the Dolphin alumni.

When NFL players are grabbing headlines for being drunk while operating boats, carrying guns and shootouts and fights in Las Vegas, Jason Taylor is doing things in the community. He's the only positive thing that the Dolphins have going marketing wise.

Memo to Bill Parcells...I hope that you stay home on Sundays and never show your face at the stadium. You are a pompous, ego driven clown.

Note to Jason Taylor. Just retire. Forget about the Super Bowl. Go make millions and leave that sorry (*@& administration of the Dolphins alone.

Zach Thomas saw the handwriting on the wall and before they could make a mockery of him, he pulled up his parking sign and went to Dallas.

Kudo's to him for recognizing the bozos that he would have been working with.

I personally don't care if he talks to Parcells,or Ireland...

And ethurst,Zach saw the writing on the wall? I'm about 99% positive they told Zach he wasn't going to be back...Then they Cut him..It's not like Zach had much choice in the matter....He's been having a hard time staying healthy, and undersized for what the team wanted

Let's not forget,Jason signed up/agreed to be on  Dancing with the Stars Prior to Parcells being hired...He also talked about Retiring before...So my Heart doesn't Bleed for purple Kool Aid for Jason Taylor....He's a team leader he Needs to act like...

Right now He sounds like the I'm the star, and I'm not getting my ass kissed...Well Jason Come act like the star, and be a leader,Show up to the Mini camps,Show up to the offseason stuff....

As best as I can tell Jason, doesn't want to be treated like a 5th round rookie by an asshole that has an attitude so he can play on a team that is at best 2-3 years away from playing football in January.

BP made a mistake by not realizing that their are few players on the team that are very solid players who don't need to learn the fundamentals from square one.

Also Jason doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding.  He want to play football in January. He wants a ring.  He doesn't have many years left.  He doesn't get a ring in the next few years his time is up.  He has played enough losing seasons, he doesn't need another one.

He is either going to be traded, released or he is going to retire.  If BP is smart he will get as many picks as he can and make sure Taylor winds up in the NFC.

ETHURST you are the man I agree with your post except I wouldn't go all out on Parcells -- despite him being a jerk he *does* get results whether its him doing the actual work or bringing in the right people his fingerprints are all over & its hard to argue with the results. As for JT, I hope he goes to a contender & gets his due --- he deserves better than the growing pains MIA is about to experience (again) -- I felt the same way when Marino retired & the Vikings were calling. Marino to Moss man that would've been something

Lil B, all the guys are doing is in the weight room lifting weights. That's about it. According to the NFl, you can't work on plays, any of that stuff. During this time of the year, they can't even do film work.

So a player shouldn't get branded as a loser by management if he doesn't show up to these, Ahem "Voluntary workouts". They are what they are...voluntary.

Jimmy Johnson would get upset with Trace Armstrong because he wasn't at the "voluntary" workouts. Trace was up in Gainesville working out on his own but when Trace would average 10 sacks a season, no one said one thing about him not showing up at "voluntary" workouts and plus, he was the Dolphins union representative.

The NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement is a joke when it comes to this stuff. Players DO get punished by coaches by not showing up for something that is stated to be "voluntary". Gene Upshaw should but will not stop being a pawn used by the NFL brass when it comes to players rights, past, present and future. If a player filed a grievance about this stuff, it's the kiss of death on his character.

Lifting weights on a voluntary basis does NOT equate to wins. Respect does. If it did, every team would be great in the National Football League.

This bull*&*^& "Respect the Code" program is bogus. It even looks like in the add that they went back and put Bob Kuenchenbergs face inside of the helmet. Respect works both ways. That's why Bill Walsh was such a great coach. He knew their had to be a two way line of respect.

And why would Taylor have to be there when he has already proven himself? What is he going to do? Make sure that the weights are back on the rack in proper order? Make sure that every player has towels? What about the guys that hire personal trainers (like Jerry Rice did) to get ready? Does that mean that their forsaking the team?

I can see the coach being upset because Jake Long or even Derek "Vicks 44" Hagan is not there. Hagan needs all the practice and cuddling that's needed but Jason Taylor?

And if we worked on a job for 15 years and new management came in, we would want our respect and in certain ways, our ass kissed too according to our track record. Show me one person that works for a corporation that doesn't feel that way and I would say that he/she is crazy. Deep down inside, people don't mind being rewarded. Some people are modest about it, some aren't.

Would you rather be dancing with a hot looking babe or in a locker room looking at a bunch of males just lifting weights?

Sorry, I'd take the first option! Wink

This means nothing Dribble...Has nothing to do with Jason Taylor's situation....Jason Taylor isn't the greatest of all time....Comaparing him to Jerry Rice please....Great yes...but let's not get carried away.....Jerry rice was a WR, not the Team leader of the Offense, hthere was also the QB,and I don't think jerry missed alot of OTA's,He needed to get his timing with the QB...

We're talking about your Team leader, the Guy that everyone is looking up to in the locker room....

This is Jason taylor...not Kuchenburg.....

He hasn't exactly Come out and said He wants to be a part of this team.....and hasn't shown it....
