Jayson Tylor is worth more then a 3rd or 4th rounder

Here's the thing with trades- a players PERCEIVED value may be one thing, but a player is only worth what people are willing to offer in trade.

The problem is this:

Draft picks represent future return - production for 6, 7, 8 years to come.

Jason Taylor, while skills and talent FAR surpass that of random 3rd round pick, does not have future value.

Therefore, he only has value to someone who's looking to challenge for a title in the next 1-2 years, which includes New England, Indy, Dallas, maybe the Chargers, Jacksonville, and that's about it.

Its like having a baseball card that "worth" $100, but it ain't worth shit unless you get someone to give you $100 for it.

Better analogy

You have two tickets to a game you can't attend. The face value on the tickets are $100.  Best offer you get is $60.  Do you take it?

You guys are not seeing the big picture. You saying BP is not getting any Value by playing hardball.  What he is getting money can't buy.  Discipline. Respect and a MINDSET. Something the Dolphins have not had any of since Jimmy Johnson left the Team. Jason Taylor does not run this Football team. No Player is above any other. This is a TEAM and BP and Tony Sprano are the field Generals. Its that simple. Its a recipe for championships that has followed BP very nicely. 1 1st rounder or retire. Its good to see someone finally in control again............... Grin

Report: Bucs, Saints, Eagles, Cowboys interested in Taylor

By Tim Graham | Friday, May 30, 2008, 09:56 PM

NFL Network insider Adam Schefter today named several teams that are interested in acquiring disenfranchised Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor.

Schefter reported the Buccaneers, Saints, Eagles and Chargers are interested and added the Cowboys at least have held internal discussions about adding Taylor to their already formidable defense.

Click here for Schefter’s video report, which also includes additional analysis from studio guest La’Roi Glover.

As Schefter points out, what makes the Cowboys an intriguing possibility is that they own an extra third-round draft choice obtained from the Browns and an extra fourth-round pick obtained from the Lions.

I have always wondered why people haven't talked more about a trade of Taylor to the Eagles for Shepard.  Seems like a good trade for both parties to me.  Any thoughts?

I was talking to some one ( I think it was Brian) about this back on draft day as a possible scenario. In fact, when the NFL Network started to scroll across the bottom that the Fins made a trade with the Eagles, I was expecting to see this trade. Instead it was Lorenzo Booker for a pick.

I think it makes sense as far as both players fitting the needs of the other teams, but I'm not sure the Eagles would want to take on JT's salary.

Miami might like it, and the Eagles might like it (if JT was to play for them) but JT might tell the Eagles I am not showing up to camp their either.  JT doesn't hate the Dolphins.  Its not a anywhere but here trade demand.  JT want to play football in February.  Chargers give him that chance, Patriots give him that chance, Giants give him that chance, Cowboys give him that chance.  Nobody has the Eagles pegged to win the NFC East.  It is Cowboys vs. Giants with the Redskins as the dark horse.  Why go from being in 4th place of the AFC East to 4th place of the NFC East?

To be honest, I see it being tight between the Eagles and Cowboys this year.  But I can understand the point of the division being so competitive.  I think you are under-rating the Eagles.

We know he isn't getting traded to the Patriots and I don't think the Cowboys or the Chargers can afford him.  The Giants might be up for it once things move along and Strahan makes a decision but who knows how long it will take for all of that to settle.

In my opinion, if Taylor really wants to be traded to a contender he should do it in Chris Chambers like fashion.

That is where I think if Taylor really wants a ring he needs to be more like Moss.  Moss took a pay cut to come to the Pats, if he hadn't the deal would never have gone thru.

If Taylor is willing to take a pay cut he becomes much more desirable.

I think you are underestimating the Superbowl champs.

If any team is only one or 2 players away from magic it might be The Cowboys. They can afford to blow a 1st rounder for a 1 or 2 year player becuase thay are that close. They should be calling any day now............I can feel it.

Well maybe not a first rounder but perhaps a third rounder and a conditional pick.

Hey I've said Many times here that that was not right.  Zach Thomas should still be on the team.   But Getting cut is part of the contract.......they didn't have to sign it and take the bonus if they didn't like it.
Likewise, the ability to holdout is part of the contract.  He can hold out, without pay, for all of training camp, all of preseason, and up to 10 games, and still get credit for completing a year of service.

If MIA didn't like that deal, they shouldn't have signed the contract, right?

But we were all begging for an admin that would take no shit and build us another championship Team. The last 10 years were full of wishy washy Nice Guys (except for Saban......he was just an Ahole) . I think the Hardline stance is refreshing and it sets a precedent to the entire league that The Dolphins are not a joke anymore.
How can you mention Saban and, in the same breath, call a hardline stance "refreshing"?  Saban was running things here less than 18 months ago.

LMFAO!!!!!! Get off the pipe. No team can afford to blow draft picks. By the way were aren't a jason taylor away we already have his clone in Demarcus Ware. The cowboys are a pacman jones and a mike jenkins away. We need cover corners to replace those two scrubs named Nate jones and Jacque Reeves.

Ohh yeah werent we supposed to give you guys our next 30 first round picks and Marion Barber, T.O  and Tony Romo for Darren Mcfadden. How did that trade work out. Lol.......He's going to retire deal with it and your going to get nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who says Miami doesn't like it? They seem ready , willing , and able to force him to retire. I think the message it sends is more valuable to the team at this point then Jayson Taylor. Zack was still willing to play here. We shouldn't have cut him.

If you look at the sentence I "EXCEPT Saban".  Meaning he definitely had a hardline stance , but he didn't know what he was doing. Just having the attitude isn't enough. You need to know what to do with it besides making big Cry baby rookies cry on the field.  Parcells knows exactly how to play the games and what to do . You watch and see . Parcells will get his asking price.  Wink
