Jason Taylor snubs Palm Beach

By Ben Volin | Sunday, July 27, 2008, 01:05 PM

Jason Taylor did a classy thing today, taking out a full-page ad in local newspapers to thank Dolfans for supporting him for 11 years. He highlighted the words “Loyalty,” “Caring” and “Support” and said a piece of his heart will always remain in Miami.

He took out a full-page ad in the Miami Herald to “thank Dol-fans everywhere.” And the Sun-Sentinel.

Palm Beach Post? Not so much.

Are there no Dolfans north of Boca? He couldn’t thank Dolfans in Palm Beach, home to thousands of season-ticket holders? Especially when new owner Steven Ross lives in Palm Beach, and Wayne Huizenga lives in Stuart?

JT has almost $16 million in salary coming to him over the next two seasons (yes, TWO seasons). He could probably afford one more newspaper ad.

This is ridiculous. Jason Taylor is gone to D.C., and who cares what newspaper he buys an ad in? Must be a slow news day in Palm Beach County, or no one has  changed the diapers of Ben Volin or the other the sportswriters at the Palm Beach Post newspaper this morning.

I think he said DOLFANS . Not Miami or Palm Beach or any other city. Last time I checked , thats where the stadium was located and the city of the team said MIAMI. The message got out. Thanks JT.......It s times like this when you realize why some athletes even bother.  Roll Eyes

Boo-fuckin'-hoo.

What a way to spin a story to turn a positive thing into a negative thing.  This is a nice thing he did, to put a page in the paper, at all.

If he'd done it to the Palm Beach Post, but not Martin County, they'd be talking about that.

Props to Jason Taylor and best of luck elsewhere.

That's it Brian.  The media needs something to talk about.  Apparently, anything will do.  In a way, I feel some sympathy for the traditional media guys who have to compete with bloggers on the field, providing around the clock, up to the minute analysis.  I guess they also have to compete with websites like ours, that do the same.

What does that leave?  Newspaper snubs and billboard controversies.  This is why I don't read the paper anymore.

Whoh.   The article doesn't say anything about Palm Beach residents...just the author is making this claim.  Don't blame us.

(This is not a derail)

Looks like CC Sabathia has joined Jayson Taylor ranks, he advertised in a Cleveland news paper thanking the fans and the Indians. So he is cold hearted like Jayson, how dare he snob all the communities in Ohio.
I am from Palm Beach county, and if I still lived there I still wouldn't but their rag.

I'm with Jim on this one. I really don't read the Sports pages anymore and prefer to get my news here. At least you get a range of opinions. JT did a classy thing.
