Aside from his ridiculous batting stance that must put apposing pitchers in so much a laughing fit that they pitch like shit against him, thus his batting stats being so good, I haven't seen that much of an embarrassment charging the mound since Ventura charged Ryan and got his ass beat.

Seriously, the guy is twice as big as the pitcher, decides to throw his helmet at him like a little bitch right before he tries to tackle him, then gets thrown to the ground.  I found this all too hilarious, especially because I was at a bar tonight and they played the clip over and over again.

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring up him being slammed.

In fairness, it does seem that whenever someone retaliates against Boston, it's against Youkilis. He is their best hitter, but they have a lot of good hitters. I would throw at Pedroia first, he is much smaller and less likely to hurt you.

As far as his "fighting style" goes......year, not a good career highlight for him. Never a good idea to charge the mound, throw shit and then get slammed to the ground by someone half your size.

"Slammed to the ground."
 Roll Eyes

Let me say this:  The kid pitching is 20 years old.  It was bush to charge the mound.  You shake it off and make the kid pay with your bat later on.  Unless someone is head hunting you don't charge the mound.

Or throw a helmet.  I mean, really.  Who throws a helmet?

That said, no one slammed Youkilis to the ground.  Youk ran into the kid basically full tilt, both of them squirming and they both fell, the kid had twisted on top.  If we're going to talk about this lets at least be factual about it?

I knew Maine would see it differently than everyone else. I watched SportCenter with a guy who knows so little about sports that he has no idea who Youk is. I bet he didin't evenr alize that was Boston playing. But this guy knows how to fight and his quote was "damn he got slammed".

Slammed might be a hair of a stretch, but if points were awarded for a takedown, Porcello definitely got them instead of Youkilis.

He basically used Youk's momentum against him, sidestepping and pulling Youk past him. I do think that if Youk didn't have both hands attached to the kid, Youk would have been the only person to hit the ground there...

Three pitchers in my lifetime that you really shouldn't charge the mound against...

Bob Gibson (yes, I'm old enough to remember him when I was a kid). Mean, angry, and hands big enough to choke the life out of you if you pissed him off.

Nolan Ryan... Any pitcher that wants you to charge the mound is probably someone you shouldn't charge the mound against. No one will remember Robin Ventura's numbers, but everyone remembers him in a Nolan Ryan headlock, getting his ass kicked.

Dave Stewart... Not only did he have the scowl of someone who would rather torture you than look at you, but at the time he retired, he held high belts in 3 different martial arts.

I don't disagree at all.  It just wasn't a "slam to the ground."

People are posting here as though Porcello pulled a Hulk Hogan and suplexed Youk.  Not exactly the way it went.  What Porcello should have done was slide step slightly to his left, wrap his left arm around Youk (which he did), and upper cut him as Youk's force was driving them both to the ground.  That would have been a knock out punch.

Fine then Maine.  If you watch the video, Porcello has two underhooks, then twists his body to throw him to the ground using Youk's momentum.  Either way, it made Youk look like a big puss, that was my point.

The Red Sox are nothing but punk thugs, and have been a black eye to the game for the past 2 decades. They are pansies.

I'd love to see Youk charge the mound against Joba.  Then Youk will really get his ass kicked.
