Henne Stare Down

I am going to go ahead and say this because I foresee it becoming an issue soon.  Henne has really been staring down his receivers.  This is going to result in some bad plays if he doesn't start doing something to keep defenders from jumping routes.  Tampa Bay and the Bills (recently) have really been stepping up their interception rates.  If Henne keeps staring at the out pattern, we could be looking at surprise losses to inferior teams.

I thought this would go away a little after he had a few games under his belt, but I actually think it has been getting worse.  Anyone else see this?

I noticed it against the Pats, but I wrote it off as "all young QB's have this problem" but I think you're right - its going to become a bigger problem in the future.

Maybe the fact that his eyebrows are all scrunched down will make it hard to read his eyes from the defensive backfield...

Personally, I am not to worried about this.  Chad has only thrown 3 picks so far this season.  If this was an issue New England would have picked up on this and had a field day intercepting/jumping Henne's passes.  

Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco have both been making the same mistakes that Henne has been making and they have 20 more games played.  Give the kid time, Please.

I am sure Tepop will agree 100% though.

I noticed that as well.  I have never seen a QB with scrunched eyes like that.  When the helmet is off, he looks normal.  I wonder if he was like that in college or if his helmet is too tight or something.  Strange though.

I've seen it, but I think his quick release has helped avoid disaster.  As safeties get more comfortable and used to it, it could be bad.

Good point.  Made me think about that pass in the Pats game that went to Bess through a defenders hand (can't remember who).  Then again, it is also an example of what I am talking about and why I am predicting trouble if this doesn't change.  At some point, the defenders are going to get there quick enough to make the play.

Jay Cutler before last week..Now that's staring down Reciever..it was either Hester,or Olsen.....Bennett,Knox,Clark,and Forte Standing there wide open...Jay held the ball to force it into Hester or Olsen....Sorry for the hijack....

I think Max protect,and only running two and three Recivers in the pattern,don't exactly scream look off someone....

I'm not really worried untill we are lined up with 3-4 wide recievers

That is also because Jay Cutler does not like to throw to his slot reciever or check down to his RB.  It's either his primary target or TE or bust.

I think this is one of the reasons he does the stare-down.  When you only get 3 options, you have longer to watch the play develop.  It worries me, too, though.
