I went to an old friend's wedding over the weekend, and too many people were uncomfortably wasted, drinking entirely too much, but more importantly, just not being able to handle their liquor, in general.

I mean -- I'll have a few drinks -- and on occasion, I might have too many.  ...but I don't get stupid, or touchy, or crass, etc.

It's annoying.

There was this one girl at our table who was pretty much wasted when she got there.  She was swaying back and forth, almost spilling her food and drink.  She was cornering and touching the bride in a strange way, and then going up to total strangers and telling them that she hated Democrats and everything was their fault (at a WEDDING!).  Even though she sat at my table, I tried not to make eye contact with her, because I just didn't want to deal with her.

Eventually, they took her home (out the back entrance), but it was much too late.   I'm all for having fun and getting drunk at a wedding, but people need to be able to handle their liquor.  Damn.

I never found it enjoyable in the first place.  I've been hung over exactly twice in my life.  I never understood why people felt the need to drink in excess, but maybe it's just me.

I'll occasionally get stoned to the bejeezus and just chill and watch a movie or something, but I never drink more than one or two beers when I go out...I get too stupid, too loud and a wee bit on the belligerent side when I used to do that. Last time I got to that state was over 15 years ago, and I don't miss it one bit.

Like once a year I will get really wasted, but other than that I barely drink. Drunk people can be so annoying.

I don't care when people drink a lot, so long as they are appropriate to the situation.  If you want to go to a party and get silly, that's fine.  But some of my friends were all drunk pissing in the bushes outside, at a fancy place.  It was pretty ghetto.

This may sound hypocritical of me but I hate when people cannot handle their liquor. Where it may be a bit hyporcritical is because if you know me, you know I drink and can drink quite a bit. I don't consider it a bragging point, just a fact. I'm not sure if there are hereditary factors or not but the males in my family are all the same. How many people can say they stayed up drinking moonshine with their grandfather on his 80th birthday until 4 AM? I bet not too many.

That said, I also have the uncanny ability to not show my level of intoxication. My friends on the other hand are quite the opposite. It can be embarrasing to be around some of them in a public setting sometimes.

im the same way...no matter how hammered i am, you can't really ever tell.  i just am aware that i'm drunk and make it a point not to talk too much or do anything stupid.

i go out drinking with my coworkers every week and someone ends up doing something scandalous or retarded, and then the next day at work eveyone's making fun of them!

I'm glad I quit drinking, At the same time I understand, and agree with Dave... My difference here is, Most people know, If I'm invited to a wedding,or reception I'm not going to hang around long...A.) I really don't like crowds, social situations B.) I don't want to be around lots of people who are getting drunk....

I've been fairly fortunate, that most people have hangovers from the bachelor/bachlorette parties from the night before, and don't feel like getting hammered at the wedding/reception.

I worked bars for years and from my experience all alcohol did was free the inner asshole, tramp, douchebag, etc. that various people surpress when they are sober. I cannot tolerate bad drunks and I have several friends I do not like to go out for this reason.

You want to see drunks? St Patty's day is just around the corner.  last year I had to get the Haz Mat service , because of all the people getting wasted, throwing up and pissing themselves in the back of my car. No shit, there is a body fluid company that actually comes out and sterilizes the car after an incident. You document it and the offending person pays for the service in addition to court co$t$ and fines.

Me too.  I get silly and giggly.

I am more of an asshole sober than I am as a drunk.
