And Welker had like 10 catches for 175 in that game.

Actually, I think it was 5 for 49.  It was in Cam Cameron's year, so it was either 5 for 49 or 9 for 138.  All I know is I remember him chucking Welker at the line of scrimmage on each play.  Seriously, now, how many OLBs (who are really DEs by trade) would you ask to cover Wes Welker, even for a second?  That speaks to him being pretty decent in coverage.

I will boo Jason Taylor.  He plays for the Jets.  I don't give a crap how long he played for the Dolphins.  He was good 5 years ago, I cheered for him then.  Now he plays for the Jets and it'll be a cold day in hell before I cheer for ANY player wearing that God-awful green color.

I will hope Taylor does well individually, but will never root for the Jets.  You know what, though?  This team has, in the past 11 years, wiped its ass with: Don Shula, Dan Marino, Zach Thomas, and now Jason Taylor.  Let's just say I'm beginning to wonder why I love this team so much.  The worst part:  Taylor still had the most left in the tank.  If this team is rebuilding, come out and say so.  Don't try to sell me that Sergio Kindle is going to be better than Taylor would've been.  I'm not buying.

he now admits that he had an offer for a contract extension in november from parcells and turned it down!!!

If there really was an offer to him in November, why did he turn it down if he wanted to stay in Miami? Maybe he thought he would be getting offers from all over the league?

^^^The offer came in the form of a post-it note from Parcells, in November.  Parcells requested that Taylor deal with him without his agent.  Taylor referred Parcells to his agent.  Once that happened, Parcells "may have been offended" by the agent's involvement and then it all went south from there.  That's the story I've read.  Nothing I've read gives me the warm and fuzzies about the Dolphins.

It is an intriguing question, isn't it?  Seems to make the story seem a lot different than all the "oh poor jason taylor" people would have you believe.

He's not infallible.  Nowhere did I ever read that he WANTED to come back.  To me the message was clear - he had no interest in returning.  Maybe you, the fans, wanted him back.

I repeat - Jason Taylor can suck it.

You haven't been reading, then.

FROM ARMANDO SALGUERO OF THE HERALD
What I know:

1. Taylor on Tuesday morning accepted from the New York Jets the only contract offer he had on the table to him. Period. There was a report on the Dan LeBatard radio show here in South Florida that quoted a source saying the Dolphins had an offer on the table for Taylor and he decided to take the Jets offer anyway.

Wrong.

"It was take this or go on a nationwide (Dancing with the Stars) tour with Jerry Rice," said Taylor, who also called LeBatard's source "a liar."

The Dolphins are in agreement with Taylor on this issue. They confirm they did not have a contract offer on the table to Jason Taylor

I also have to agree that this is misleading.  I heard him say in more than one interview that he wanted to play 2 more years (after the 2009 season) and that he wanted to be with the Dolphins.  This was during the season.

Furthermore, I want everyone to soak this in.  YOU 100% CAN'T TRUST ANYTHING THAT COMES FROM THIS GROUPING OF PARCELLS, IRELAND & SPARANO.  I trust Taylor, maybe not 100%, but certainly way beyond anything that comes from our current front office.  I honestly believe our front office is trying to do what is best for our team, but they are checking their respect for the players (and in some ways the fans) at the door.

Simply put, I don't like this way of doing business.  I don't find it necessary or even beneficial.

I can handle JT not playing for the Dolphins, but doing things like spontaneously canceling meetings without reason and using harsh phrasing at press conferences just isn't the way to handle a player who has offered as much to the team, city and game of football as Jason Taylor.

this is about taylor wanting money, plain and simple.

parcell's gave him an offer for a contract extension in november. if he wanted to remain a part of the dolphins, he would have jumped on that. maybe it was another lowball offer, and taylor wanted his agent to negotiate it. whatever...

he's 35, and had a contract extension from parcells himself to remain with the dolphins. he CHOSE to wait until the end of the year, get an offer from the jets, and take that offer. he had many options throughout this process, and CHOSE this path.

this is my position on it:

JT is well aware of the rivalry between the dolphins and the jets, even if the jets are the only team in the entire league that want to sign him, he's making the choice to play for the biggest rivals we have. That is his choice to make, my choice is to boycott any business that pays him for advertising. That's my choice.

We as fans don't owe him anything. He absolutely deserves to be booed when he comes here to play in September, it isn't even a question. He has the right to chose whether or not to play for the Jets and we as fans have the right to not like it.

And his number shouldn't be put in the ring of honor.

^^^  You had me in mostly agreement until you mentioned the ring of honor, Fau.  You want to boo him for going to the only team offering a contract, that's your right.  You want to look past the fact the Dolphins treated him like crap YET AGAIN, that's your right.  You want to say he no longer belongs on the list of Dolphin greats because he's taking a title shot with Jets and I say you're crazy.  The guy wants to keep working.  The other team is offering him a job.  His current employer has told him to all but eff off.  AGAIN.

If you think he should retire rather than put you through the *anguish* of seeing him in Jets green, then you're the ass, not him.

You want someone to blame?  Try the guy that hasn't won a Super Bowl since 1986 but we all treat like some sort of god.  He's offended that the star player rejected his contract-on-a-post-it-note, and now freezed Taylor out?  And Taylor's supposed to just roll with it for the sake of your fragile little memories of his time as a Dolphin?  Give me a break!  If my firm was done with me and its most bitter rival was the only one offering a job, do you know what I would do?  Take the effin' job.  And so would you, and you, and you, too, dear reader.

When Jason Taylor single-handedly dismantles Jake Long or Vernon Carey, remember to place the blame squarely where it belongs; on the 65-year-old third grader that got offended that his "do you like me?  check the box if yes" note got thrown back in his face for being the joke of a contract offer that it was.  Seriously.  $2.5 million dollars in an uncapped year?  THAT was worth waiting 'til after the draft?  My ass.

Yay.  By which I mean S&*t.  He had 7 sacks last year while playing pass coverage half of his downs AND coming off the field on many third downs.  I heard the Jets promised him an all-pass-rush-all-the-time job to incentivize him to join up with their evil gang.  I hope Jake and Vern are ready for him...

As I said before:  we're going to be screaming about this by year-end when he's gotten 10 sacks with the Jets.  absolutely howling.  I don't care that he's 35.  He was still our best LB last year.

Sounds more like the ramblings of someone liking a player, more than rooting for a team to win a superbowl.....

i would too without a second thought .. but i wouldn't expect to be put up on the ring of honor of the first job

i'm not blaming JT for taking the jets position .. he can do whatever he likes .. but i just have a policy where i don't think we should put jet players on our ring of honor. that is all
