Bang: Dez Bryant (DAL) or Dan Williams (ARZ).  At 26 a guy like Williams was supposed to be gone mid-teens.  Bryant is great value for late-first and could end up being their stud WR next to Williams and Austin.

Bust: Alualu (JAX) or Tebow (DEN).  The Broncos could have stayed in the second round for Tebow.  He wouldn't even have gone before Claussen or McCoy.  I've never even heard of the guy the Jags reached for.

What do you think?

I think that Tebow is going to have a major impact like John Elway had went he first got here to Denver. Now I'm not a Denver fan but Tebow is a winner. Joe Montana wasn't flashy but he got the job done.

I just don't think that McDaniels is the right coach for him. He needs a good position coach. Everyone is laughing at the pick but I have this strange feeling that Tebow is going to prove them wrong.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

I think SD trading up for a guy who probably would not have gone in the top 20 was a error that benefitted us.
I do not think the Elway comparison is fitting as Elway was a better passer in college and less run orientated. Tebow looks to be like Young before he had a coach and team set up to cater to his strengths.

Best: Dan Williams - Arizona

There was a lot of value at the pick, and it was an area of need for the Cards.  Win/Win.

Bust: Tim Tebow - Denver

I'm a broken record, but this pick is terrible for 3 reasons:
1) Tim Tebow doesn't have what it takes to play QB in the NFL, regardless of where he's drafted.
2) Even if he did have it, you could've gotten him outside of round 1.
3) The Broncos traded up to get into the spot.

^^ I think you can add 4) The Broncos didn't really need another QB and had other needs.

Dan Williams sliding all the way to Arizona, when they needed a NT and couldn't have dreamed he'd make it to them...best pick of round one, imo. I thought the Seahawks got great value with both 1st rounders in Okung and Thomas.

Tebow will become the biggest bust of round one, imo.  I actually like Tyson Alualu, but Jacksonville going for him at #10 seemed like a massive reach.

And one last time...I LOVE the two O-linemen that the 49ers drafted last night. I watched a lot of clips of Iupati after SF selected him, and the one blip aside (Senior Bowl performance), he looks like a monster from every angle.

Stroke, my friend's husband is a huge Niners fan (so she is kind of by association) and they were both really excited with the picks last night on facebook

SF still needs a QB, but whatever QB is under center for us sure can't complain about the team not giving him support. He'll have lots of blue chip beef on the line, a very good running game and a number of high quality receiving targets. Imagine what this offense would be capable of if we actually had a real QB...not a superstar, but just an above average QB.

Let me clarify the Elway comparison. As far as physical tools, he won't ever be another Elway but Denver fans have been disgruntled with McDaniels. Hands down, he's the most hated Broncos coach ever. He even tops the late Lou Saban.

Tebow sells tickets. It seems to me that McDaniels is not looking for a guy who can throw 70 yards off of his back foot like Cutler but a guy who can manage a short passing game and throw it downfield once in a while (Tom Brady).

Orton reminds me of a quarterback the Dolphins used for a stop gap. Gus Frerotte. Open the competition and lets see what Tebow does.

I'm sure of one thing...

Chris Simms is gone.

I am surprised at how no one is talking about the ridiculous pattern that Bill & Company in New England took.

The Patriots have more holes to fill than a plastic blow up doll.  One of the largest needs that this team has is a pass rusher.  In typical NE fashion, trade out.  And then select...

A CB.  Devin McCourty.

A corner.  In a draft where there are upwards of 25 draftable corners.

Belichick went on to say how the guy is going to help on special teams and be able to compete for "playing time" on other downs.

Uh, really?  1st round pick on a guy to help you on special teams? meanwhile you can't pressure the QB, have close to no running game, WR corp is a mess...

And this guy takes a corner.

And none of you are talking about it.  This pick makes me wish I were still hosting a show up here because Pats fans are losing their minds over it.  Funny as hell.

Calling and WR corp with Moss & Welker on it a mess is blowing things out of proportion a bit. That said, the pick is questionable.

I think Both of Denvers picks are head scrathcers and I think San Fran did really well with both of theirs.

1 - If they are LUCKY they get Welker back for a month this coming year.  You do know that he blew his knee apart, right?  If they strike GOLD he'll be at 70% of what he used to be.

2 - Moss took every other play off last season and got ridden pretty hard by the fans and media.

3 - The other options at WR are...well, they have...they signed...oh yeah. 76 year old Torry Holt, who caught a whopping 50 last season.

The WR corp is a mess in NE.  Utter mess.

I know Welker was hurt, but something tells me he is going to have a miracle of a recovery. Moss has always taken plays off but it has never hurt him as far a being considered one of the top receivers.
