Was it warranted?  Discuss.

I don't think it was warranted and I think Pierce was foolish in the first place. No star players should ever be in a position of taking two technical fouls in the playoffs.

Warranted?  I don't know.

Satisfying?  Hells to the yes!

Anything that helps contribute to Boston exiting the playoffs and doesn't involve a human being dying...is pretty much acceptable. I didn't think Pierce really "dropped the shoulder" on that play as much as he flinched, realizing that Wade was about to run him over. If I were officiating the game impartially, I probably wouldn't have ousted Pierce for that.

The first tech Pierce got, for the head-butt of James Jones was ridiculous. Jones should get an Oscar nomination for the way he threw his head back, whiplash-style, once Pierce made contact.

I don't know what he said, so I can't really say if he deserved it.

However, I will say that his first T was absolutely warranted, for the "facebutt".  From that point on, he knows that he has to take it down a notch.  You can't be mouthy to players and refs when you already have one T.  It's just stupid, coming from a veteran like Pierce, especially.

I have a feeling that Boston is going to come out with some fire tonight.

Did you watch the replay of that? Don't get me wrong...I love the fact that Bosh got the referee to give Pierce a technical foul, but that was the most blatant overacting I've seen from an NBA player in years. Bosh made it look like he got punched by Mike Tyson or something...it was hilarious.

Typical NBA referee job.  The NBA wants LeBron in the finals against Kobe, so Miami and LA will get all the breaks, just check the number of penalties called at the end of the series'.

It was not even a foul, but a good pick. That ref was a joke, and it should have been a flagrant foul prior to the full frontal facial as he put Pierce in a headlock after fouling him to prevent the shot.

Sorry man, but that shit didn't fly when I was saying it about the Spurs as a diehard Suns fan...it can't fly when someone says it from straight Heat-hate. If anything, the NBA wants Celtics-Lakers again, for the bloody tradition of it all.

Sorry Stroke you are blinded by what that rivalry used to mean. The NBA wants the Lebron show in the Finals. Ratings will be huge for all the kool aid drinkers who want to see him win, and for all the people who will watch hoping he loses and cries like a little girl with a skinned knee.

Sorry Stroke you are blinded by what that rivalry used to mean.

Or you're blinded by your predispositions toward the Heat and imagined conspiracies within the NBA.

One or the other anyway...

Yeah because superstars for decades now have not been getting calls for obvious rule violations. Because refs never make mistakes and are uncorruptable. Because the ratings for a Miami vs LA Finals would be so much worse than Boston vs LA.

Neither Boston nor Los Angeles are going to the Finals. What a totally ineffective conspiracy this is turning out to be... Wink

I'd say bsmooth is right. LeBron and the Heat are more important to an NBA finals than the Celtics.

Paul Pierce could have not been ejected from Game 1 - it wouldn't have made a difference. D-Wade owned Game 1 and LeBron owned the 2nd half of Game 2 - and the Heat closed out the fourth quarter extremely strong in Game 2 after it was tied 80-80.

This has nothing to do with David Stern conspiracies or ref's screwing over the Celtics. The Heat are simply out-muscling the Celtics and are showing the poise that the Celtics used to show just a few seasons ago. Basically, they're getting their asses whooped and the C's better figure something out before Saturday, or it's going to be a 3-0 Heat series lead (Can someone pull up the stats for teams that go up 3-0 in a series? Yeah - no-team has ever made that comeback and only 3 teams in NBA history I believe have ever pushed it to a game 7 after going down 0-3).

Let's go HeaT!

It was James Jones.  And Piece got in his face and then lowered the crown of his head into Jones' cheek.  That's a T, 10 times out of 10.
