I came home and about had a coronary (streak for the cash aside),after having my garden dug up by the squirrels for the 200th time this year. The dogs and I walked into the house, and I noticed the light below Samsung on my T.V. was lit up.This only usually occurs when the T.V. is on...(I turned the T.V. off this morning when I left).I pushed power on the T.V. remote nothing happened...Waited 15 seconds or so,pushed power again...The light went off,I waited 15 seconds or So pushed power, the light came on,but no picture...Turned it off again...Unplugged it,let it set for 2-3 minutes plugged it in...It came on...

I was thinking, well maybe I hit source and it got switched to the blue ray player, and since the blue ray player is off I got the blank screen...I decide since I had a half an hour,Time to thoroughly clean behind the T.V. vacuüm the vents, kill the dust bunnies...I just did this semi recently..Never hurts to do it again....

I don't have good luck with T.V.'s,My 60" DLP,got real dim in like 4 month, went through 2 bulbs in a year, and had to be worked on twice.I bought (a July 2008) Samsung 52" LCD,11 months in,it needed a repair. My current T.V.(September 09) 52" Samsung they sent to replace my broken one (From late June of 09) Is a newer model refurbished model, than the one that broke...I'm at a year and a half...

I've been thinking about upgrading my T.V. in the bedroom, but really can't afford it,I bought it when my other T.V. broke Vizio 26" 720P ...P.OS. IMO...I wasn't too picky,I had no T.V.,and very little money at the time...

So...
Have you had to replace a flat panel T.V.?
Have you had any problems with your flat panel T.V.? How long did you have it before it started having problems?

Have you bought one recently?
Do you connect your T.V. directly to the internet? Do you use the apps built right into the T.V.?

I had to replace my flat-screen.  Similar to you, the power wouldn't turn on.  I would let it sit for a while, and it would work again.  After doing some internet searches, I found that a common problem with my TV was a blown capacitor that would worsen over time, to the point that the TV wouldn't work at all.  On 2 separate occasions, I took out the board, bought new parts (cost only $.99), and soldered them to the board.  It worked, but was only fixing the result of the problem, not the problem itself (probably a power overload somewhere in the circuitry.  Because the root of the problem was never determined or fixed, the replaced capacitors continued to blow out.  I got fed up with it and ditched the TV.

I was able to stretch out the broken TV for about another 6 months of life, but eventually just bought a new one.

I've had the same 42'' Vizio for like 3 years now.  I use an HDMI cable to directly plug my CPU into my TV like a giant monitor.  Never had a problem with my TV.

I've had a Samsung 50" plasma for going-on 5 years.  Its working fine but since its 5 years old plasma, its only 1080i.  I am itching to buy a 1080p LED now, but I just don't see the need to spend a grand or so when my TV works just fine.  I will wait until it craps out, or I move, whichever comes first.
