McCoy, Philbin, and Bowles are getting 2nd interviews in NYC  (where Ross is) this week. Looks like those are the final 3.

Zimmer and Toub have been told they are out of the running.

IF they hire Bowles its a clear sign Ross has just found a caretaker till the next "big name" guy is on the market that he can chase. It makes zero sense to hire him. But considering who is doing the hiring I wouldn't be surprised. Oh and McCoy, who I wouldn't mind getting the job in all honesty and is my top choice with this new news, he did learn under and get his feet wet under Dan Henning which concerns me some I will admit.

Might be that way. I can't see them interviewing guys for a month and then giving it to Bowles, it makes no sense on any level and you will piss off an already very angry fan base who didn't go to games last year with that hire. From a PR standpoint it makes zero sense from a football stand point it makes zero sense.

I will take Philbin or McCoy honestly, I mean either one is a roll of the dice to be honest.

Going along with Ross's "finding the next Don Shula" search:

Mike McCoy will be 40 years old at seasons start.

Don Shula was 40 years old when he took the Dolphins job

JUST SAYIN!!!!!!!

Sooooo he'd rather hire someone who is going to sugar-coat things and tell them what they want to hear?

I can picture Zimmer in his interview going in saying he won't work with Nolan cause he is an ass, you have crap at the QB position what will you do to improve it for me, I want no part of Daboll he is gone, don't force me to take Bowles on my staff, and the first time Marshall starts in with his antics I an't putting up with it.  Got any other questions?!

Zimmer is Tom Coughlin....minus the 5% charm Tom try's to have! LOL

Reports are coming out that McCoy is so confident he will get the job, that he took his name out of consideration for the Raiders gig

I was just thinking, "The only thing this Dolphin offense is missing, is the option."

Nice to see someone actually wants the job for once. I like McCoy in that he will adapt to his players and not try and force a square peg into a round hole.

I am fine with McCoy or Philbin honestly, I would be optimistic about either to be honest. If they hire Bowles then this starts the next 10 years of failure and they clearly are the dumbest franchise in all of professional sports

Why wouldn't you want to see Bowles but are ok with the other two? (I'm asking seriously, I'm curious why you think that.)

Because its a status quo hire. Sparano 2.0. Another one of Parcells "guys" who got hired by Bill back in the day and followed him from town to town and he thinks like Bill. Same loser Parcells Philosophy of run, run, pass. 1980s establish the run type football that is so outdated its not even funny.

McCoy is very young, he thinks outside the box. Maybe he is the next bright young coach. Philbin will bring the Packers "style" and "philosophy" that works. Yeah he won't have Aaron Rodgers running it but its a proven philosophy that works in this league.

The only guy I don't want is Philbin.  His kid just died, and there is a chance football won't be on his brain 100%...then again, he could bury himself in his work to deal with it....too much of an X-factor.

Bowles is getting a lot of hype from other media markets.  In Tampa, a bunch of the radio heads are saying Miami would be idiots for not hiring Bowles.  That he said and changed three things and the mentality of the team changed.  They could have been talking out their asses because nothing specific was said on the changes, but I guess the team really rallied around Bowles.  Take it for what it's worth.

I like McCoy's adaptability.  That is crucial trait for a head coach.  I really hate it when coaches are hard headed and won't change things.

Interesting that you would say that. Because Sparano changed things up after starting 0-7, and got fired anyway. I know there were other things in play. But, I agree that adaptability is important. I also like originality. But the willingness to adapt means the ability to make adjustments.
