He has been beyond awful since joining Indy. The stat in the above tweet says it all. Granted its only 2 games and things could change, but after watching Vontae for a few years now...it won't!

His next finest moment will be his walk to the unemployment line

No but seriously, wow, against Cutler and the dude from Minnesota.  I can't think of his name at the moment, so I'm typing until it comes to me.  Christian Ponder.  There it is.  But yeah, don't exactly scream "Elite QB's" there.  Looking like a steal, so far.

When he tests the free agent market and finds out he's not going to command big bucks because of his lackadasical attitude, then he will get the message.

Irelands finest moments were getting Reggie Bush for a song. Think N.O. misses him? Other awesome moves were not giving in to big buck QB FA's and getting Matt Moore, who had his best year.

Hated the signing of Marshall, but loved to see his sorry ass go. IMO, 2 3rds was awesome. Still too early to grade past couple of drafts, but hated the Egnew pick and picking up Naanee. WTF???

Very upset that Davis never grew up!!!

I liked the Vontae *pick*. With so much talent, you have to gamble that he's able to mature in the system.

When he showed he couldn't (not yet, anyway), trading him was the right move.

Not thrilled about our receiver and tight end situations, though. And we still need a better strong safety / linebacker to cover opposing tight ends. Dansby has decent speed for 6-4 250lbs, but he's lost if he has to follow a player making even a simple cut. I haven't noticed Rashad Jones as much in tight end coverage, so either he wasn't used much or he played better Wink.

Ireland deserves a pat on the back for this one.  Everyone was up in arms, but so far it looks like he was right.

I like what I've seen from Ireland this season, so far.  Brandon Marshall has dropped 2 TD's in 2 games and still has a 16 million dollar price tag.  A cap-crippled team can't afford that.  Vontae was sold at exactly the right time and Ireland held out and got a great deal for them.  And what I see as a good move is the trade that never happened to get Anthony Armstrong, when we picked him up on waivers the next day.  For all the heat he takes, he deserves some credit.

Vontae is a bum, and I'm glad he's proving me right.

Agree. I like Ireland, but we need to stop drafting and signing these losers to start with. I didn't know enough to make an opinion on the VD pick, but HATED the BM signing. Knew it was bad from day 1.

^^ Re: Vontae - its like fyo said.  The kid had talent.  You hope he grows up.  Maturity can be learned if people take their situation seriously.  He was one who did not.  "Can I call my grandma?" tells you where his priorities lie.  No maturity.  Raw talent can't be taught.

The moment Ireland told him he was traded and the first word out of his mouth was "can I call my grandma", I knew he had no family support growing up. What a shame.

Wow, I always considered my grandmother family?

Was she all you had? What I meant was he probably lacked the normal environment of a mother and father. I am sure granny did the best she could, but....

Heck, it might not have made a difference. Moot point now.

...what?

Does his grandmother somehow not count as "family?"  How can you possibly come to the conclusion that wanting to call your family means that you had no family support growing up?

You don't know anything about his family history.  While it certainly shows immaturity to ask about calling someone else in the middle of the meeting (grandmother, father, wife... anyone), it doesn't tell you anything at all about his childhood.

^^^ I don't think y'all need to twist anything around from what Fins4ever said. If your first call is to your grandma then either both of your parents are dead or she was really the only person in his life, the latter part not being normal. Just a harmless comment, no need to get all uppity.

Agree, I don't know a thing about his family. It was just a theory. I could be totally wrong.

Thank you. I suppose the comment was made from studying psychology and I jumped to conclusions. lol I can tell you however, after coaching little league baseball that there is a big difference in kids with 2 supporting parents and those with only 1 or a grandma. It is proven both scholastically and socially.
