LB Brian Cushing has an ACL tear suffered against the N.Y. NASTY Jets when Matt Sloshing did an illegal chop block. Sloshing was fined 10K and Cushing is out for the year and may never be the same.

Is it just me or is that messed up? Why not take a 10K fine and take out Tom Brady, Rodgers, Manning or others?

Let me get this straight. A guy on the jets makes a clear illegal, intentional block (from the backside nonetheless), and he gets a fine of ten grand and the other guy has his career jeopardized. Is that fair?

IMO, Sloshing (not sure of the spelling of the POS), but he should suffer the same consequences. Expelled for the season and NO PAY!

This is just another reason why I am not a supporter of Roger Goodell. Do you think that Goodell being in N.Y. has any bearing on the punishment? If you don't, you are sadly mistaken.

Move the HQ of the NFL to Anchorage, AK. and remove this biased BS.  Better yet, get rid of Emperor Goodell. He sucks!

Kim Jong Goodell has his cronies/crony teams.  Jets, Giants, and Patriots are in his "inner circle"

No.  I do not believe the location of the league headquarters has any bearing on the punishment.

However, I do believe Rodger Goodell growing up in NYC as a Jets fan and having only been employed by one NFL team (the New York Jets) does have a bearing on how he punishes.

Why not simply get rid of chop blocks.

Good idea.  An illegal chop block is a minimum two game suspension and $50,000 fine.  If the chop block injures the player, the suspension is for the remainder of the season.

Don't buy that cause everyone thinks he want really easy on the Pats for the whole spygate thing. If he was letting his bias affect his judgments, then he would have lowered the boom on Belichick and the Pats.

I have tried to like Goodell, but he makes it hard. When he came "to power" he said one of his main goals was to "clean up the league" of drug users and thugs. Even though it seems more people than ever have been suspended, the league is no better off than when he started.

However, the things that bother me the most is:

1. Sorry, while I do believe in safety, I think many of the rule changes he has endorsed has lessened the game. The PI rules are absurd. Accidentally hitting a QB in the head with your hand 15 and 1st. PLEASE!

2. The other thing that frosts my nuts is that Goodell is consistently inconsistent. This latest, lame 10K fine is a perfect example. Spygate was another slap on the wrist. On the other side, look at what he did, or tried to do to Vilma. It was something like a 565,000.00 fine.

They don't actually call that anymore, do they? I think it was a "point of emphasis" one year, like hitting a defenseless receiver, leading with the helmet, no-doing-anything-with-the-ball-after-a-play delay of game thing, and so on -- all of which are pretty much never called anymore, despite happening every game.

He went down very hard on the Pats.  Three quarters of a million dollars and a first round pick for video taping what 75,000 people could see with their own eyes.  And something the Jets had done the prior year without punishment.  And the Patriots were nailed doing it at the Jets.

The Saints got hit much harder for what many feel were "lesser crimes."  And I tend to agree with that.

Sean Payton and Gregg Williams gone for a season. Belichick had no suspension.

Belichick had no suspension.

And should have! At least 6 games.

Hoodie, 1st I heard about the jets doing it a year earlier with no penalty. Would love to see that link.

I am not going hunting.  Nor am I redebating camaragate again.  Patriots got hit very hard for taping something that was in public view.  Mangani stole a NEP laptop when he left NE and got no punishment.  That is more than enough for me to know Godell is still a Jet.

I thought the commish job was going to Condelizza Rice. That would have been much better.
