THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: October 27, 2015, 10:11:21 pm »

1) The Dolphins are going to have to take some chances, namely going for it in their own territory on fourth and short.

2) The Defensive line.  The secondary is overmatched against Gronk and that receiving corps, so it will be up to the line to get pressure force mistakes.

3) If they win the toss they should defer, so the Patriots don't have a chance to get a two for one.   Also, they would be guaranteed to start with the ball on their twenty if they did elect to receive.

4) Some sort of trick play to steal a touchdown at some point in the game.`

Please replace the ridiculous one about going for it on fourth with "avoid turnovers".

That's a given for any game.

I was trying to post keys to this specifically to playing such a juggernaut as the Patriots.

This is not what you meant to say. You mean going for it on fourth and short in Patriots territory I believe.

My keys for the game

-Pressure Brady early and often and don't be afraid of an early late hit or two. Jason Taylor has always given us a chance because he thrives against Brady. The Giants constantly were in his face and have been successful. Let Brady get comfortable and you will get beat.

- Do whatever to take Gronk out of the game.

- establish the run game. New England's run defense isn't great to begin with so we need to establish that early and often

That also has the advantage of keeping the ball out of Brady's hands.

Especially against a team as good as the Patriots.  You have to limit your mistakes against them.  Going for it and not making it in your own territory on fourth down would be foolish.

My key to the game is getting to the plane on time for the flight.

Also, no crazy special teams disasters, as happens so often when the Dolphins play the Patriots.

No, I meant exactly what I said.

Please refer to the 2003 AFC Championship game between the Patriots and the Colts.

Belichek went for it on fourth and 1 deep in his own territory very early in the game.
