Remember when Vontae Davis had to use the restroom during practice and Joe Philbin decided he was no longer worth coaching, shipping him off to IND for a second-round pick (which became Jamar Taylor, who is no longer on the team)?  Since then, Vontae has made two Pro Bowls and MIA has struggled to find a second CB (or, in the case of this year, a first CB).

Adam Gase was displeased with Jay Ajayi's response to the decision to name Arian Foster the starter for week 1, and Ajayi did not join the team for the trip to Seattle.  However, rather than immediately try to discard Ajayi, Gase chose to try actual coaching instead and kept working with Ajayi.  This week's results would not have been possible if he had taken Philbin's approach.

It's good to have a coach that is interested in coaching instead of power-tripping and shipping off talented players at the first sign of trouble (or, in the case of Brandon Marshall, before there's even a chance of any trouble).  Between Marshall and Vontae, that's 5 Pro Bowl seasons and one All-Pro season that Philbin sent away from Miami because he thought coaching players was too hard.

A lot of praise for a coach w a 33% winning percentage. How many people has gase already shipped off?

I see you are the leader of the gase circle jerk.

I've been impressed with Gase, so far.  It's early, but he seems to have his head on straight and he generally puts his players in position to win the game, which is what I ask.

I am not sold on Gase yet, because of some of the decisions he has made.

+1

Best part is he and his coaching staff adjust and adapt.  Philbin never did that.
