So, I didn't even know this was a thing, but I saw a post somewhere about this movement away from top sheets (in bedding).  Either people want less laundry, find the sheet smothering and oppressive -- I've never even heard of this, but apparently lots of millennials don't like a top sheet.

This is savagery.

Top sheets keep things feeling clean, smooth, and cool.  It's the sign of a comfortably made bed.

Do you prefer a top sheet?

Fitted sheet, top sheet, no blanket, 4 pillows of different shapes/sizes/uses. That's my bed...

No top sheet should be referred to as "camping"

We don't have a top sheet.  Fitted sheet, comforter, two throw blankets for each of us.

Yeah, but a duvet is an "and".  Not an "or".

They serve the same purpose.

I think Dave is trying to insert something a bit more lighthearted than a raging pandemic or an attempted putche into the discussion.

Yeah -- that's like a cultural thing.  The top sheet thing might be generational.

I rarely, if ever, wash my blankets and comforters.  But if you don't have a top sheet, then I suppose that every time you change your (fitted) sheet, you also wash your blankets?

Madness.

Cultural? Personally, I've never seen the need for a washcloth. Plus they irritate my skin. I guess most people use them though.

However, I do need a top sheet.

FYI the idea that Europeans don’t use wash clothes is a myth.  This myth stems from a misunderstanding of why you don’t find washcloths in European Hotels.  Most Europeans view wash cloths as a personal item that you would bring from home and are just as repulsed at using a shared version as we would be of using a toothbrush that the last guest use and then washed before our visit.

There's one on the bed, but wifey and I don't use it. We're both under a blanket instead. It usual just ends up in a ball between us.
Not to derail the topic, but must one be an evil genius to fold a fitted sheet?
