that's because old reruns aren't really a thing, there isn't a captive audience for them. you had what 6-7 stations growing up, more if your family had cable. And even then half the stations ran mash re-runs. Now my kid just watches youtube all day and asks me stupid questions because some streamer said something dumb
Yeah, I realize that this is the cause but I also think that there was a lot to be said for things that stayed around longer and soaked into the cultural zeitgeist. I didn't watch Green Acres -- never saw an episode of it in my life. But when Pulp Fiction makes a joke about it, I get it.
Reruns, yes, in terms of syndication -- but also entire stations dedicated to old shows -- USA Network and Nick at Nite. I watched a lot of Three's Company and Lassie and all kinds of other stuff.
