DC Anthony Weaver.

At the end of the game, the defense was starting to look squeezably soft again, and his decision to blitz with under 2 minutes remaining allowed Garrett Wilson to score a TD (on basically perfect defense from Rasul Douglas, mind you).

Miami came very close to a repeat of the 2023 Titans game.

I guess I'll go with Weaver also.  I realize the backfield doesn't have great players, BUT what is going on with the D-line?  Poor containment and poor run defense; I don't get it.

We can bash the dbacks all day long, but every time i see Rasul Douglas, he's where he should be, playing good defense and i can't fault that.

No real shame in a win, but Weaver is ok, the D was mediocre even in the face of 3 fumble recoveries

From the NFL highlights package:

It initially seems hard to pin it on a defense that came up with two huge turnovers, but our front again was porous, and our tackling continues to be woeful.

Maybe it should be Weaver because it's still struggling to contain anyone - at the very least, perhaps DL Coach Austin Clark & his assistants deserve the SOG?

I can't find anyone to pin it on for this game.   The defense allowed yardage but came up with turnovers.  They aren't going to do that against good teams.

I guess I'll give mine to everyone on this site (including myself) for failing to live blog the game.

I will say that this was a soft SOTG.  If MIA holds NYJ to a FG instead of a TD, I probably don't give one out at all.  But the defense felt like it was collapsing (again) at the end.  They were saved by Waller recovering the onside kick and Bailey launching the punt of the season.

I agree with Spider, I think.

We led by 2 scores the whole game and we won the turnover battle by a lot, but a lot of that comes down to luck or a bounce.  I could see a situation where we would gone down several scores...Jets collapsed.  In the regular flow of the game, we were unable to contain the QB and we got absolutely gashed in the run game.

We have major, major defensive issues.  I don't know if it's coaching, talent or what.  But we can't contain and can't tackle.

Jets also got hosed by the refs.  SEVERAL late hits by Dolphins went uncalled.  Terrible discipline on the defensive side of the ball.

The Dolphins got hosed in the first half, the Jets in the second. Not a good game by the zebras.

Some interesting points in this story that came up about Chop Robinson's lack of snaps:

https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/onsi/news/why-isn-t-chop-robinson-playing-much-01k6kew4tffm

"In Week 1, Robinson was on the field for 36 snaps, but he played just 20 against the Jets.

That’s the fewest snaps Robinson has played since his first game in Week 1 of 2024. What’s going on? Well, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver has an explanation.

“So much of that is a feel thing with (Senior Defensive Assistant) Sean Ryan,” Weaver said. “I think, again, he was kind of thrown into this right before the start of the season, so he’s trying to develop a feel for how to rotate these guys and make sure they’re one getting enough reps and making sure that they can feel comfortable with the flow of the game. You don’t want to roll guys to roll guys because they are on a snap count, it’s not natural.

“You can’t set up offensive tackles. You can’t set up rushes, it’s hard. That is also – there’s a growth happening there because of the situation we went through with our outside backers coach.”

Of course, Weaver is referring to Ryan replacing Ryan Crow, who was placed on administrative leave after he was arrested on a domestic battery charge. Those charges have since been dropped, but Crow remains on leave."

So maybe a big chunk of the blame for our under performing D-front can be worn by Senior Defensive Assistant Sean Ryan?

I'm not going to blame the defensive cr*pfest on a defensive assistant coach, "senior" or otherwise.

I also seriously doubt that the defensive struggles can be significantly blamed for someone getting a few more or fewer snaps at OLB.
