I saw mafia guy talking about what is going on. Apparently these guys go to illegal gambling nights hosted by the mafia because they are adrenaline junkies with money.  They are provided endless amouts of free drugs and hookers. Afterwards, the mafia balckmails them into doing things for them because they have them on video doing comprimising things.

They put themselves in a position to be compromised and now they will pay a heavy price.   Even if they manage to cut a deal and get out of this with little to no prison time, they will never play professional baseball again.
