I kind of felt the same way but the truth is 4 out of the final 6 teams in the playoffs were first time coaches. It matters more who is selected and most likely more than that, who is picking the players. The GM we got only came with positive reviews and was generally thought to be "the" pick for new GM. I'm hoping that translates to players who can play from day one, can play in the cold, and not are coming off the injury list.

Which is why Miami needed to hire a HC with prior HC experience.
Hafley does have head coaching experience, just not at the NFL level. I know that doesn't mean much to you, but it's something to be aware of regardless.

Nobody cares about non-NFL head coaching experience.  Coaching your kid's middle school football team is completely irrelevant.

I wouldn't say nobody cares. I only know because it's been reported many times in news articles so apparently some people care or at the very least think it's worth mentioning. They didn't mention if he coached his kid's middle school football team, so I agree that's completely irrelevant.

That's absolutely not true. You may not, but plenty of owners and others accept college head coaching positions as experience.

Well, yes: if you won a national championship like Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, or Urban Meyer, then your college head coaching record is a big part of being hired in the NFL.

On the other hand, if your college head coaching resume is an overall losing record while never finishing better than 6th place in your conference, perhaps it's best not to mention it at all.
