Should the NFL adopt the NBA's salary cap rules?

Playing off the third place game thread.   As it turns out, you can be over the cap in the NBA, but depending on how far over you are, restrictions come into play.  It's designed to break up teams that spend heavily on star players.   There is a first and second apron, the second being much more restrictive.   Maybe the NFL could do the same thing.  Here's some possible restrictions and I'm trying to pattern them after the NBA restrictions

First apron restrictions:

-Cannot sign a free agent unless they lose one and then only for the same amount of money or less.

-Cannot trade a draft pick to acquire a player unless the trade will drop them below the first apron threshold.

-Luxury tax penalty


Second apron restrictions:

-Can only re-sign own free agents and draft picks

-Can sign UDFAs only to the rookie minimum (no bonuses or higher salaries for preferred UDFAs)

-Cannot trade a player for another player unless the trade will drop them below the second apron threshold

-First round draft pick is frozen (cannot be traded)

-If a team is in the second apron for three years out of five, their first round draft pick automatically gets moved to the end of the round regardless of their record

-Higher luxury tax penalty

The NBA and MLB should adopt the hard cap rules of the NFL or NHL.

The NBA and MLB should adopt the hard cap rules of the NFL or NHL. 

MLB will never have any kind of salary cap, let alone a hard cap.   The players union is too strong.   The NBA will probably never have a hard cap.   It took some serious bargaining to get to the point where it is now and that only began in 2022.   Since then, no one has repeated as champs which actually helps the NBA's case as it was designed to make things more competitive.
