I went to the game last night. It is really quite amazing to see the all star cast the Yankees put on the field. While I know my Braves will struggle to capture another title I do feel they are a year or so off from kicking butt.  these young kids are pretty cool to watch. It was really exciting to see them beat the "all stars" last night even though Cox pulled his kids after 5 while Torre kept his bunch in.

In one hand I wish Time Warner would come off their wallet but I think it is more satisfying to see them build from within.

Another note: Damon just looks plain wrong with short hair!

The Braves are an exciting club. I really enjoyed watching them play fundamental baseball last year.

Its so much more exciting to see a team build a club and go far into the playoffs, than to see them sign high-priced hitmen every year.

The 2003 Marlins > the 1997 Marlins for sure.

The two young Bravos that I think will have excellent seasons... catcher Brian McCann and, even though he had a bit of a rocky callup last year,  the kid I think will win their closer's job... Joey Devine.

McCann hit a pinch hit double last night. He will be a ggod player but Jeff Francour will be the next "Chipper Jones" for the Braves. That guy is awesome.

I just hope Devine didn't get shell-shocked by his rough treatment during his callup last season, though based on what I've read about Joey in the Atl press, it doesn't seem like it will be a problem.

Yeah Devine has been lights out in spring training.  I'd bet good money he has the closer job by the end of April.

I just thought I'd update you Devine fans.  He was sent back down to Triple-A on Monday and replaced by Peter Moylan.  Hopefully he makes a turnaround.
