Spanish Star Spangled Banner?

There's a big hub-bub down here tonight about some people wanting to create a Spanish version of the national anthem, the Star Spangled Banner.

I think that all these illegal aliens and people who support them (like the artists who collaborated on this "song" AND 90% of Congress and the Senate) are making a mockery of our laws, and giving the finger to immigrants who are here legally.
I hope that every one of them who protest on Monday lose their damn jobs for not showing up for work.

But, I DO care if they're going to clog up traffic and run a stupid protest, which will inevitably result in assaulting police officers and destroying public property.  You're allowed to hold a public protest, but it has to be in a civil manner that doesn't disrupt anyone else.

Translate the song, but don't cause trouble.

It doesn't look translated to me.  It looks like a completely different song.  That's the problem I have with it.

I'm curious ... how many other countries allow immigrants to change their country to fit them?  It seems to me if you want to come here you should at least be willing to 1) speak/learn the language and 2) accept the laws, cultures and traditions already established there.

I realize there are many spanish speaking people who have come to the United States so it is beneficial for businesses to have Spanish speaking people but it drives me crazy when those same people don't recognize that they need to learn to speak english or that english is the language of "our" country.

Bingo!  Our anthem is suddenly beyond translation?  Much more historically important things have been translated (Bible,  Anyone?  Anyone?), and we don't seem to mind.  They're taking creative license, and that's their choice.  I won't be SINGING the anthem in Spanish anytime soon, or ever, mind you, but I really don't see what the big to do is all about.

Because those are the proper words to the song and because English is our national language. People that immigrate to this country should learn English, but many of them don't. I have no problem with them speaking their native tongues in addition to English. But many of them come here instead demanding that we change things to accommodate their lack of English speech. IMO, this is just another example of that. It needs to be translated to Spanish so they can understand it without learning English. But worse than that, it wasn't even properly translated. And no, it's not just translation difficulty. It's not even close. I don't expect it to translate perfectly, but it should be close. The fact that it isn't suggests that it's deliberately inaccurate. It's a mockery. That mockery is particularly evident in the last line:

above the land of the free,
the sacred flag?

In a free country, the artists who recorded it can do what they want. However, we are also allowed to criticize. These people are using this in defiance of our country. No comprende English? Fine --- but don't expect us to accommodate you by spending money to print all of our signs and government documents in Spanish.
And don't call me a racist when I go into a store, and leave pissed off when I can't find anyone in the store to tell me if they have any dried habaneros in stock.

Will there be a music video for it on MTV? There could put in some clips of the illegals sneaking under the fence. Just keepin' it real, as they say in the rap world.

This is the main reason I left Miami (with traffic and high gas and insurance prices being secondary).  Due to my inability to speak Spanish and unwillingness to learn it, I could not find a job.  Everywhere I went, they wanted someone who was bi-lingual.  To me, that is a form of discrimination.

A language is a skill.  It's not discrimination, any more than not hiring someone who doesn't speak English is discrimination.

Just looked it up, and you're right. However, every single US document is English.

So, I'll ask a different question...Why are you for allowing these people to break the law?
