its not signing bonus, he has a guaranteed contract.  we pay him whther he plays or not.  May as well keep him for depth, incase the injury bug bites, since we have to pay him regardless. 

either we pay him and keep him or we pay him and let him go play somewhere else.  If its all the same, I'd keep him for free.

I don't understand why people are so quick to defend Wilford based on his contract. So what if he had a big bonus?

The money would get spread over two seasons, not 3. That would make sense except for one thing- this season is halfway done and I'm almost positive the Fins are under the cap. So take the hit all this year, as opposed to spreading it over two seasons. Next year or the season after you may need all of that cap space.

I don't think cap or "real" money is an issue here. Wilford is worth something as depth - and since he and Parmele are the only depth we've got, there's no way we're going to cut him until we get a replacement.

I agree that as much as possible should be applied to this year's cap.

Believe they changed that rule that a team could cut a player or two in Mar & count it as a June 01 cut.
