He can practice with teams up until then....just can't play in any games until week 6.

Am I the only one who thinks Goodell tacked on another week JUST because the 4-week suspension story broke/leaked?

Who is he going to sign with?  Have his skills eroded and is he really the player he's hyped up to be?

^No is the correct answer to this question, because he was ALWAYS a shitty overhyped bum to begin with in the first place...you don't improve your shitty QB skills by being in jail for 2 years.

He can maybe - MAYBE - play special teams, but that's about it.

ONE of the issues with Vick was that he had a really shitty attitude, which included not working hard at getting the playbook down and working on timing with his receivers. I've read reports that he's "a changed man" this time around and that could enable him to be a better PASSER.

Age and time away from the game, however, will almost certainly have eroded those amazing skills he relied (too) heavily on: speed, burst and elusiveness.

Yeah, he was a phenomenal athlete, there's no question. But he was - at best - an average NFL QB at his very best. Most of the time, he was a low-end NFL QB who would be a 2nd string QB on most NFL teams. He's not a good football thrower and made very many bad decisions, and was horribly inaccurate.

I would not want him on my team...PLUS you have all the baggage on top of all of that.

The Dolphins have officially declared that they are not interested in Vick.  It was in the Herald.

i think that goodell stated that he has agreed to review a full reinstatement by week 6. so technically he has wiggle room to be reinstated before week 6.

i can now start to see where he ends up with the patriots and they deploy a wildcat scheme of their own this year.

Answer me this.....

On what down do you take the best QB in the league off the field and send in Micheal Vick?  1st and ten?  3rd and long? red zone?

my feeling is that the spread/wildcat/wildhog/whatever the f, will become a standard piece of an nfl offensive playbook, and not from a purely gimmick perspective. its not a novelty act, and it will be deployed more than people think as part of a "base" offense.

it's no secret that urban meyer and belichick are close friends, and for good reason. these guys have strategic football minds beyond the rest of their peers. there was a lot of talk that the pats would pounce on pat white this year in the draft, and i think if presented with an opportunity, bill would grab tebow next year in a heartbeat.

this game really just breaks down into individual matchups. it doesn't matter if you have the greatest qb in the world for a particular play, if the defense has the play matched up just right, you are going to have a hard time consistently converting. cassel is by no means tom brady, but he started to become real effective in that offense because of the matchup problems the pats skill players pose for defenses.

i don't think folks should be so surprised to see the patriots roll out a spread option attack this year. i dunno who could run that right now (welker?), but the person that the spread option was tailor made for is currently available to any team as a free agent at a discount rate.

^^^ the "wildcat" has been a part of the NFL for years.  The Dolphin's didn't invent it, they gave it a name.  I do expect a slight up tic in its use because it was effective last year, and then a drop off this year when it lose effectiveness.

Its biggest reason for its success against NE was not that it is a superior formation -- its not.  But its surprise.  It won't have that.

One of the biggest problems with it is it open your QB up to a greater risk of injury.  Which is fine if your QB is a low paid FA pick up on a two year deal.  But it is not something you are going to risk Peyton Manning or Tom Brady over.

In order for the wildcat to work at all.  You must use the same personnel on the field for it as for other plays.  If NE takes Brady out just for wildcat plays than the defense will know exactly what is happening.  So for the wildcat to be successful in NE it means benching the best player in the NFL for half the game and having a turnover machine on the field for half the game.

The only reason why NE is being discussed is because BB is one of the few coaches not to issue a press release saying "we ain't interested"  But that is becuase BB never would do that.

it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out... plenty of fans don't want vick near their respective teams, but he is going to sign with someone. how are these fans going to reconcile their feelings towards vick with him now being on the same team they want to be successful?

the same fans that were bitching about vick, will be celebrating everytime he lines up in a spread option and burns the defense.

Watch him go to the Jets......Sanchez has no Veteran to learn from and Their fans are all degenerates anyway so it really wouldn't matter.

Vick, like Favre & Bledsoe are not the kinda of QBs that make good mentors.  Clemmens would make a better mentor dispite his lack of experince than Vick.

Good QB doesn't = good veteran to learn from.   In fact I don't think there is a better QB in the entire NFL than Pennington for the role of mentor, but that doesn't mean that Pennington is an elite QB.
