It's all in the title.  You can't read a story about dolphins mini camp and OTAs without it talking about how awesome Parker has been so far.  Yes, I know it's a far cry from game day, but I'm stoked.  He's been eating better, sleeping better and stretching before and after practices, something he wasn't doing before.

I say he's slightly over 1k yards and right at double digit TDs, maybe 9-11 of them.  I feel there would be more, but there is a lot of talent to spread the ball around to, so that will cut into his numbers.

I have a hard time buying any of it but I hope to be proved wrong. Parker has shown me nothing so far to prove he wants to be a football player and this time of year every article is nothing but hype on players who you never hear of during the season.

That 5th year option on his rookie contract is getting closer in his view so till its picked up no doubt he will be motivated. I'm sure he will have his best years this year and next due to that alone.

I'm not a big believer in "contract year performance."

If you're in the NFL and you didn't get a huge signing bonus that represents a big cap hit if you're cut, every year is a "contract year."

Me neither.  But WR is a position that often takes 2 years to get the hang of with a decent bump year 3.  If you see a significant improvement in Parker it will because of the time it take to develop a repore with Tanny, not the contract

I'd almost be satisfied to see him take his job seriously and stop missing time because of nagging injuries that our coaching staff has said Parker brings on himself by not training properly. That alone would equate to improvement.

I'm a little dubious of all the "media hype" that has surrounded Parker so far this year.  But i will be as happy as anyone if what they are all saying translates into on the field performance.  I do think he improved last year.  But he definitely isn't where he needs to be, so hopefully that improvement will continue.

How many Dolphins last year were in a "contract year"?  Did they all play harder?

It's confirmation bias.

Andre Branch sure as heck did. Kenny Stills did. Those two got good paydays and more than anyone expected them to get for having big years in their contract year.

Dion Sims had a great year in his contract year and got a big payday elsewhere. Go back a year and OV and Miller did as well.

Should I continue...?

That's just not true as it relates to Stills.  Stills took a couple million less per year to stay with the Dolphins, versus the open market.  If he were just playing for the money why didn't he push for more??  Plus Stills became more of a full time receiver with the Dolphins.  And back to the OP point, Stills was coming to the end of his rookie contract, so perhaps the point that a couple years experience allowed him to excel this past year may be valid.  And perhaps that is the point that Parker is at.

Parker also started his career under Philbin, and IMO Philbin mishandled every single rookie that played for him with the Dolphins.

You are missing the ENTIRE POINT of this conversation. Maybe he turned down more money from elsewhere to stay, the point being made is he had his best year (of his career) in his contract year. So he was extra motivated for sure is the point. Whether he took $10 mill a year in a state with taxes or stayed in Florida for $9 mill a year with no state income tax is not the point being talked about. About was he extra motivated in his contract year to play his best....the answer is clearly yes!

I think both are you are missing the ENTIRE POINT as Stills is not the topic of conversation.

It's about Parker and him having a break out year. When I stated is likely because he is nearing his 5th year option pick up so yeah he probably will have a breakout year, someone challenged that players don't play extra motivated in contract years  and Stills is the example I provided as very recent case in point. Then a certain someone took it off the rails about less money or more money and missed the entire point of the thread and the talk about Parker and "extra motivation" he may have due to his contract.

So I am missing nothing and you can direct your comments towards someone else if you like. BYE FELICIA!
