I'm still a fan of telling him to report or get fined. And when he fakes an injury, just put him on IR for the year.

And he got another raise. I guess the reports were a rouse or purposely spread misinformation because a few people said that. I wonder what we are giving up to get rid of him? Hopefully we get Jonnu and Zach signed soon.

On a separate note ... this was the most un-Steeler like off season I've ever seen Pittsburg go through. I wonder what is going on up there?

So Jonnu is going to Pittsburg as well? LOL ... we look like we are rebuilding in year 4 of Mike.

Getting out of Ramsey's contract and getting Fitzpatrick in return is probably about the best I could have expected from that trade. I'm OK with it although I doubt Fitzpatrick plays more than 1 season in Miami, but 1 year of Fitzpatrick even with his inflated salary is better than being on the hook for Ramsey's contract and getting nothing from him.

As Mike Tomlin said  ... “We can’t do this with hostages, man. We need volunteers,” Tomlin said. “We need good players, good guys who want to be here and if guys can’t check those boxes, it’s probably best for all parties involved to go our separate ways.”
Or maybe just paid guns for hire? It's a nice quote, doesn't mean anything in today's NFL.

Jonnu had a good year, but he's nothing special. 20 other guys in the NFL can do what Smith does, whether that guy is on the Dolphins is another thing entirely.

If both of Ramsey and Tyreek are off the salary cap books for 2026 onward, that should give us some room to negotiate something (as well as to extend Sieler, and other players we think are worth it).

In theory, Minkah should also add some much needed leadership to the team - something we clearly weren't getting from Ramsey.

But no one on our roster. Smythe was the best we had and he's no longer here. We have a bunch of projects that still haven't panned out. The best of the bunch led our team in penalties with few catches. It would be amazing if it suddenly happened.

Maybe Waller can be the guy?

Dolphins trade for Darren Waller

There is hope but players don't typically do too well after taking a year off. Our TE coach coached him on the Raiders where he did well so there is that.

Can you say Ricky Williams? LOL

I read a little something that said that it really wasn't about his health, but his commitment to the team (Giants). I can only assume that if he's decided to unretire, his heart is in it again with the Dolphins. Maybe he got a call from his old coach? We'll see I guess.

Waller is a really interesting addition. I remember him ripping the middle of our defense to shreds in a Raiders uniform a few years ago (like other quality players at the TE position). It seemed like he really wanted to come out of retirement to play for us (and only us) as well, make of that what you will.

The devil will be in the details of his contract - if the bulk of it is incentive/performance based, it could be a position where there's very little to lose from taking him on.

I saw an interesting article saying he retired because he lost interest in NY because they kept calling a play with him as the lead blocker. Let's see how that works out.
