Upsets like these happen all the time in the NFL and they very rarely signify an inferior team's suddenly becoming a juggernaut.

Four out of the Dolphins next five games are against teams with a losing record.  Win a few of those and you will really see folks exhibiting unrealistic optimism.

If nothing else, I'd think this season is teaching people to take things one game at a time. In a year ike this I'll take each win as a celebration but not sure I would bet on similar results for the following weekend.

It is an odd year, some of the recently really good teams are not doing well (Bills, Ravens, Chiefs, Lions, etc); while some dark horse teams like the Patriots & Colts are doing really well.  Only the Eagles & Rams, maybe the Bronco's, are teams that were expected to lead their division.

Two things subsequent to this game that show this team is going nowhere, despite the win:

1) The ridiculous, clownish locker room celebration following the game.  Totally inconsistent with experiencing the game as a mere stepping stone toward turning the season around, as any team would if it had truly established the goal of righting its season and that goal was in turn determining its culture.  Instead this was the Dolphins' "Super Bowl win" -- it's good enough in itself to cause such a mass celebration because there is no larger, overarching goal the team is striving for.

2) McDaniel's engaging with Bills' fans on the street following the game.  Totally inconsistent with his position as a leader of men and the stature and demeanor of an NFL head coach.  That kind of character on his part is why he is woefully inept as a leader of men in his position, and it's why we see the kind of clown-like behavior we saw in the locker room after the game.  The team is being led by a clown, and so it behaves like clowns.

NFL history is littered with single games whose outcomes are meaningless with regard to the overall quality and trajectory of the teams involved.

...while in contrast, locker room celebrations and postgame coach appearances have a near 1:1 ratio to championships.

Strawman as usual.
