Easy to pick Carpenter, but......the kicker didn't blow leads at 13-0, 13-7, or 21-14. I gotta go with Philbin. Its just eerie on how they cannot put a game away.

More like an eerie reminder of a certain coach with a bushy mustache

I know what you guys are expecting, but im not saying Tannehill. He played better than I would have ever guessed or hoped he could, and I honestly doubt he'll ever have a yardage game like that. I don't believe he has the talent to be what everyone else thinks he can be, so I'm not going to now fault him for doing what I expected him to do. Second week in a row that a player from the secondary got his ass handed to him when it counted most, but as noted Smith had 2 INTs. I have to go Nanee. Drive killing drops or fumbling for no reason; drive killers. -EK

It's hands down heads and shoulders above the rest Legadu Nanee; anyone not picking Nanee is being silly.

How did I see a vote for Tannehill?  Can I get your drug dealer's number?

Anytime a kicker misses a FG of +50yds, they are excused as well.

What's the difference between a 1 - 3 start or a 3 - 1 start?  Dan Carpenter.  Miami should audition kickers asap.  Kid Rock needs to go

Dave and I were discussing why I voted for Tannehill.  It wasn't an easy choice, given how many yards he threw for, but we lost a game that I thought we should have won.   How could we dominated the game and still lose?  Look at the stats and you will see that we exceeded the Cardinals in every significant category except for one........turnovers.   Miami had a total of 4 turnovers, Tannehill had 3 of those.  If you don't take care of the ball, you don't win.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with the growth Tannehill is showing; but I think it's okay to see his performance today as a "mixed bag".

StatMiami  Arizona
First Downs  2118
Total Yards  480297
Third Down Efficiency  6 - 16     4 - 16
Yards Per Play  6.54.2
Time of Possession  35:0031.31
Sacks  84
Penalties  46
Turnovers 42

I'll go with Naanee too. He only touched the ball once and it was a turnover. At least Tannehill took every snap.

This is just stupid.  I hate to go so negative here, but seriously, this is like blaming misalignment in the constellations.

A missed 51 yard FG in the beginning of the 3rd quarter has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything...especially if you blow 3 leads in the last 40 minutes of the game .  If you can't see that, then I think you need to re-evaluate every single thing you know about football.

I don't want to come across too hard as an ardent Carpenter defender here, but it speaks to how low we've sunk as a franchise when people are blaming your kicker for a missed 50+ yard kick early in the 3rd quarter.  It's as if no one else was at fault for anything for the rest of the game.  Do you not blame the QB for missing 3rd down passes?  Do you not blame your defenders for many instances of poor coverage that lead directly to scores?  Do you not blame your QB for missing protection calls (which he did twice in crunch time that directly lead to turnovers)?  Why on Earth would you blame a kicker for missing an extremely difficult kick with an entire half left to play?  Why is it the offense gets a complete pass on failing earlier in the game inside the 20?  There is no logic to blaming the kicker.  And why would you think this defense wouldn't have just given up more points sooner if the opposing offense knew it had to score?  Have you not watched this team play for the last 4 fucking years?  And it completely shifts the blame from people who were responsible.

Should Dan Carpenter have made the kick?  I dunno.  50+ kicks are a mixed bag at best.   What I do know is if you think Carpenter bears the major fault in this loss, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.  PERIOD.

Dan Carpenter is clearly your cousin.  I apologize for insulting your family.  I do however have a problem when my knowledge of the game is called into question.  "Personal attack" or not, cool it.  You will be schooled.  Red flag towards admins, whatever.  I don't take too kindly to being called an idiot.

Anyways.  Now that I've had some time to cool down.  Miami has major problems closing out games.  Or tackles for that matter. I've seen a few instances, this season alone, where Miami is about to get an easy sack..and then the opposing QB gets some Houdini like escape and it's all for not.  Miami needs to finish plays on defense.  4 sacks from Wake is nice, but he could've had 6.  Not trying to be greedy, but you can't give second chances, especially in a close game.  I believe Starks missed a sack opportunity as well.  Oh, and Nannenenenene is worthless..at least not worth me learning how to spell his name.

I need to cool down and tone down my response.   I apologize for coming on too strong here, and I don't want anyone to take this personally.  There's a lot of fans who want to blame the kicker, but when a team loses a game in which it's led the whole way, a kick at the beginning of the 2nd half is not the reason why the team lost.  Ever.  Blaming the kicker is just obfuscating the real reasons why the team lost in AZ.

Carpenter's game is not above reproach, however, and he should be feeling the heat (as should any player performing under expectations)...but he's certainly not the reason why this team is 1-3.

I wish Carpenter was my cousin, though.  I could use the cash.    Grin

I actually deleted my comment in (what I thought was) enough time to not be seen, as I thought it was too....douchey?  Apparently I wasn't fast enough.  Thank you for your apology, I apologize as well for my blatant sarcasm towards you.  Bottom line, I understand kickers miss FG's, that's football.  I'd be a fool to expect a kicker to be automatic.  Nobody is perfect.  However, Carpenter should be feeling some heat because, IMO, he's gotten worse every year.  I just don't have faith in him, at any range, anymore.  I would just like to see more consistency from a kicker.  I feel like Carpenter is missing every other FG at this point.  Right now, we're dead last in the league in FG percentage.  The way the season's looking, we need every point we can get.  Idk, I guess I'm just pissed that Miami could very easily be alone a top the AFC East right now, as opposed alone in the basement.  I know it's only October (officially), but it would be nice and maybe a confidence booster for the boys.  I hate close loses.  If Miami is going to lose, I'd rather be blown out.  I hate the "what if" factor.  End.rant lol

As soon as this game ended, my reaction was:

"Who do you blame?  The whole team seemed to play so well."

Tannehill has one of the best games in franchise history.  I'll give him a pass.
Carpenter missed a FG from 50+ - not a chip shot but an elite kicker makes that.  Carpenter is not elite.
Smith got burned by Fitz a couple times, but who doesn't?  He had 2 picks.

The guys who I think are elegible:
Naanee - just plain hot garbage.
Richard Marshall - got burned for their 2nd TD, and generally looked terrible in coverage.
Jimmy Wilson - cannot cover in this league.
Nolan Carroll - good tackler but a liability on nickel.

I think this team has a serious lack of a reliable 2nd corner.  Sean Smith has grown into almost "shut-down" status, and improved from last year by leaps and bounds.  But the other side cost the team the game today.  Arizona only moved the ball when they threw, and away from Smith's side.

So, I nominate Richard Marshall for being unable to hang with Arizona's 2nd-tier receivers.  Until this position is addressed, the Dolphins will continue to struggle.

(Note: all this said, I still support the Vontae Davis trade.  He wasn't even as good as Marshall).

Missing a 51yd FG early in the 3rd quarter had ZERO to do with the outcome of today's game.

Except the fact that those points keep it out of overtime. This may go down in the statement that don't make sense list if you ask me.

Naanee gets my vote. They guys got a chance to make one play and blew it. That is all it takes.

Neither the Defense nor the offense has a killer instinct and can finish teams off.

Brian- Marshall Like Bush, I thought Marshall was Questionable if he was going to be able play before this game...My counter point to giving it to Marshall...

IMO This shame of the game is a Chicken and the Egg type question....Naanee shouldn't of fumbled, but if he doesn't make the tackle,Sean Smith doesn't make the pick in the end zone...

My Vote is to Naanee...

MY thinking out of the box answer, nit picking answer...,Reggie Bush...I love your never give up on plays, but can't run backwards make a blown,or bad play worse....While Butterball was the first to not pick up the Blitzer,Reggie, should have not basically just stood there..Got to get the fumble...
